Replace, or have the DC Power Jack replaced. This is the port on the laptop, that the plug from the AC adapter (Charger), plugs into. The Good news is the DC Power Jack is a jack connected to a harness with wires in it, and has a plug on the end of the wires.{ Power Connector Cable }This means the faulty DC Power Jack, does NOT have to be un-soldered from the motherboard. The Power Connector Cable, (HP name), is simply unplugged from the motherboard, and replaced with a new one. (The Power Connector Cable's plug end itself, { Jack }, sits in a channel, formed in the outside edge of the bottom case. The plug on the end of the Power Connector Cable, just plugs into the motherboard )The bad news is the computer has to be completely disassembled, down to removing the motherboard. Just like laptop models that have the DC Power Jack soldered to the motherboard. You yourself perform this easy repair?1) Use an ESD wrist strap, and connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source.{ Electro Static Discharge }Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.Using an ESD wrist strap prevents this.Average cost of an ESD wrist strap is around $3 to $6.Average example,

The cable's wires connect to the alligator clip ]2) Use a multi-compartment container, for the various screws you will remove.Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.If no multi-compartment container is available, substitute with a clean egg carton. Label each egg holder.SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws.DO NOT mix them up.3) Make a record as you disassemble. Make notes, and drawings.Perhaps use a digital camera, and/or video camera. (Use good lighting. Make your drawings and notes legible )It's nice to have pictorial guides, (If available) ,and a Service Manual, but nicer to also have a Personal record to refer back to, in case you are interrupted.A) Disassembly pictorial guide,
