Epson Artisan 800 ADF jams

There are two gears that are made of plastic that have hard rubber toothed sprockets pressed on them. These sprockets split and allow the drive motor to slip. Epson will only sell the motor assembly and not just the gear. I used a dot of supperglue to repair the sprockets and all works fine now.

My printer has problems printing dark colours.

Try changing the print paper type to something other than plain paper. Use the matte paper setting, or the photo glossy. The printer will lay down more ink at these specialty settings.

Epson Artisan 800 continually indicating paper jam error--No jam.

Yes, that fixed the problem on my Artisan 800! Thanks so much for the info about slipping the cr scale back onto the u-guide on the back of the print head carriage, Larry P and dabaker! For those trying this, the u clip is upside down so, from the front of the printer, you move the CR scale ribbon down a little and in towards you gently, in from the back towards the lower part of the rear of the print head assembly, and it will slip in on the top part of the ribbon into the u shaped groove (which, to be technical, looks more like an n-shaped groove, an upside down u). If it is loose and not clipped in, the CR scale ribbon will bow out easily on both sides of the print head carraige when lightly pressed towards the back of the printer near either side of the print head. (As pointed out in the service manual, do not touch the ribbon with your fingers, particularly if they may be greasy/greasty/gritty; use a clean tool for this-I used a q-tip which worked well for both testing the tension and for pushing it down and back into the proper guide slot.) If the CR scale ribbon is clipped in properly to the print head (properly seated in the n-shaped slot), it will bow towards the back of printer easily ONLY on the side that your press it from (ie left or right) but not on the opposite side of the carriage; the opposite side will remain almost entirely flush to the rear of the print assembly. Remember to press gently; you do not want to stretch or damage this scale ribbon if you can help it. If you have a small dental mirror and good light, you will be able to see the n-shapped clip (it's plastic and black on my 800 clearly. If the ribbon is correctly seated, it will be in the slot at the top and free at the bottom. Because of the use of u-slot in the previous posts, I was confused as to where to fit this in but then figured, nothing to lose and yep, it's actually the n-shaped slot at the top.

When I make a copy using the auto-feeder of my

Hi, that black line is most likely caused by a spot of dirt or paper dust. When you feed paper through the auto-feeder, it gets scanned by the thin strip of glass next to the large flat platen glass. A spot of dirt on this glass will show up in each pixel across your page, resulting in a line on your copy.

Generally, just wiping this strip of glass down with a dry lint-free cloth will get rid of the dirt. If it's stubborn and still there, you can scrape it off with your finger if you can see it. (See where it lines up on the page.) Alcohol and a lint-free rag also works well for cleaning this glass, but be sure to dry it before use.

Did that do the trick?

Keeps saying paper cassette no set correctly or objects blocking path

I was also stuck with this error message for a while. It turned out to be a 4x6 photo paper got stuck in back in a place that was not easily visible. I had to detach the double-sided paper module from the back, tilt the printer on its side and reach in with fingers and pliers to pull it out. The error message was correct, that something was blocking the cassette tray even though you could push the tray all the way in!

I had a similar problem. It turned out that something was jammed in the machine, and the CD tray had slipped out of place. Unplug the machine and check the path of the CD tray. Make sure that there isn't anything in the way. Don't force anything. I also had a problem where it was printing a dvd and it disappeared. It had slid part way into the back. It was jammed in there for several months before it caused an issue. The repair person, just removed the back part of machine by pushing the tabs and removed the stuck dvd.

On Epson Artisan 800 the scanner leaves wide black stripes for the whole length of the paper. Printing From a file is OK.

If computer printing is fine (source) but scanner printing has problems, then of course, your problem is in the scanner. The only solution based on your info (which is good), are the lines in the same areas on other bad scanning prints? If so, your problem means that the scan-head has a connection problem leaving a 'black' send to the print buffer. This will require some technical repair replace or clean connection. Remember that this is a mechanical movement that not only records what it 'sees'e but at what X-Y location the read was 'seen'. It would be worth it to get an estimate from your local computer repair center give you an estimate.

Epson artisan 810 prints vertical black lines on all documents

this problem is usually fixed easily. this commonly occurs when print head is clogged. I use a facial tissue and alcohol to clean the head with the ink cartridge in an upside down position (if possible) then i print one or two test prints to get it back to normal.
