Print a counter page. Does it have the same symptoms? If not, the problem is in the optics. If yes, probably the fuser hot roller is worn out (you can look at it and see them) or the drum is worn out.

You did not mention the model number. It is near impossible to answer that otherwise. The 500 codes are typically paper feed or fuser related.

Error code SC501 is not a fuser problem. It is the top paper feed tray. Take all of the paper out of tray 1 and turn the machine all the way off. Turn it back on. Code should be cleared. If it returns with no paper in it the paper feed station has a broken part and can only be repaired by replacing it.
