GE dryer will not start..guessing it could be the start button or seems like perhaps the dial. I did check the breakers and the plug.

Good news and bad news.
Good news first.
Here are the things to check, in the order of "most common to least common".
1) Lid switch ( cheap plastic, easily broken, most often the problem.)
2) Thermostat switch, there are as many as 6 on each machine.
3) Blown internal fuse, there are as many as 3 on some machines.
These parts are not awfully expensive.
Bad news:
By all means, when you take the machine all apart to check all these, clean the whole insides, and do not be surprised and the "shoe-boxes" full of lint you may get out of the tubes.
