Overflowing

This is a symptom of a pressure switch problem. Open the console and double check the pressure switch (located behind the water level knob) and make sure the rubber hose is still attached. In many case, this hose vibrates loose and comes off the pressure switch. Without the hose attached, the pressure switch never senses the change in pressure from the wash tub required for it to be shut off. The end result: your washer continually fills without shutting off. If it is a simple hose problem, you can prevent this from reoccurring by placing a small zip tie around the air hose at the point where it attaches to the pressure switch. Do not over-tighten as you may damage the switch fitting. Just make it snug.

If the air hose is still attached, and the electrical connections are still attached, replace the pressure switch. I could not find a part number with the model number you listed this under. Please double check you model number again and post back, so I can assist you finding the correct part (if needed). I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have further questions.

Leaking from the front

take a butter knife and release the two clips on the top of the front panel (look in the seem between the top and front panel and push the butter knife directly into the clips), this will release the front panel from the machine. then you can see where the water is coming from.

GE Top-loader Leaks Water from Vertical Tube Behind Tub on X-Large Loads

it sounds like the basket is not locked when it is agitating, if so the water will climb the wall during the wash cycle and leak out of the overflow (which is the plastic tube you described). if this is the case, it is a transmission brake problem. it can be fixed by a professional, but you might want to look into buying a new machine.

The clothes smell if left in the washer wet overnight

Wet clothes should not be left in the washer over night as mold will develop and cause a moldy odor. You could run the load through a rinse cycle with fabric softener or baking soda to get rid of the odors.
