My Husqvarna Lily 550 won't "grab" the fabric between the foot and feed dogs. The fabric slips and slides. Feed dogs are up. Quilting walking foot works, but regular sewing feet don't. Suggestions?

Are you using a very thin fabric? If so perhaps you need more pressure, try turning up the pressure wheel a notch. Normal setting is 4 so perhaps up to 5 or 6. But remember to turn it back down when finished.

I wanted to change the

This has happened to most of us from time to time! There are several different things you can try. The first is to turn it upside down and gently shake from side to side (I have to get my husband to do this!). The second thing you can try is you can purchase a tiny magnet on a telescoping rod at any hardware store that will fit on the sides of the bobbin area. That will generally bring it up, and no--you won't harm the components.

How to get the hand look quilting stitch on the Lily 540

Hello Joyce Smith Please refer to page 45 in the instruction manual which can be downloaded for free at this link http://manuals.husqvarnaviking.com/ Instead of using invisible nylon, if at all possible use invisible polyester thread. It behaves better and does not break during prolonged stitching. Use a "Quilting" needle size 80/12. Happy Sewing Sewingirl/

How do I get fabric to feed through when sewing?

Check the feed dogs are in UP position. If so, are they moving back and forward when turning the hand wheel (be careful if you have a needle in the machine). If they are not moving back/forward, it is either the lower shaft has slipped out of position or the stepper motor has gone bad and needs replacing. Your local authorized husqvarnaviking dealer should be able to repair the machine. You can find the nearest dealer at http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

How to remove top cover of lily 550

Make sure the presser foot is in the up position. This will open up the tension disks. It takes a lot of patience to remove imbedded thread. Use tweezers to grab the thread. Rock the handwheel backwards and forwards to help release the thread. If all that fails, have it cleaned by an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. You can find your nearest dealer at the viking website - http://www.huqvarnaviking.com/us

You should be able to pull the cover of the hand wheel off. Just firmly grab the hand wheel and pull straight back.

Thread around wheel

If it were my machine I would pull the back cover for better access to the rotating shaft and remove the remaining thread. If the thread works its way into the shaft bearings you will have a real mess.

Don't ask me how but I have managed to get some thread around the hand wheel and it is stuck. It is the Lily 550 which I love. Is there anyway I can remove the wheel to get at the thread.

If your machine has a free motion knob there should be a small screw visible. This is the knob stop screw, undo this and the knob can be fully unscrewed and then the wheel can be slid off

Feed dog adjust

Check they feed dogs are at least one mm above the needle plate. If not check their is no lint under the needle plate. To raise the feed dogs you remove the rear cover and turn a knurled wheel. From the rear it is visible to the right and above the gear that drives the hook.

The machines came with a rubber tool to change the bulb. It helped you grip the bulb. If you don't have one visit your dealer.
