Bernina 2500DCET serger keeps breaking the centre

I have found with any serger I have used that you have to cut the looper (bottom) threads before re threading the needle threads. You then rethread the loopers.
If you don't do this, the needle threads keep breaking. Hope this helps.

When I thread and use

Try rethreading all the threads making sure you thread in the recommended order: Upper Looper first, Lower Looper second with the tail Crossing Over the Upper Looper as the last step, then thread the needles.

What is the correct setting for a hand rolled hem?

I do not have this brand, but thought these instructions for a 2-thread rolled edge might help -

Presser foot - Rolled Edge
Needles - Right or Left (depending on the width you want).
Stitch Width - Normal to Wider (your choice)
Stitch Length - 1 mm/left needle; 0.5 mm if using the right needle.
Differential Feed - Normal
Blade Position - Up
Right Needle Tension - Tighten
Lower Looper Tension - Normal or Loosen
2-Thread converter - engaged.

The converter may also be referred to as a subsidiary or auxiliary looper. This fits into an opening near the tip of the upper looper to "trick" the upper looper into thinking it is threaded.

The above information is from "Serge With Confidence" by Nancy Zieman. I have found this book to be more helpful than the instruction manual that came with my Babylock Imagine.

Buttonholing - Bernina 950 (semi-industrial)

This sewing machine looks exactly like the Berninas that I own, although my are not industrial. You just use the dial to make each side of the buttonhole, only having to set the stitch length to super small. The way you make buttonholes is this:

Think of the buttonhole as a square-ish capital O, with the center of the bottom of the O as the point where the button shank will lie when buttoned. Place the marked buttonhole area under the buttonhole foot, with this bottom point directly under the foot, squarely in the center of the 'hole'.
-Turn the dial to 1 and the long left edge will sew in zig zag stitches; stop the machine at the top of the O.
-Then turn the dial to 2 and the top edge of the O will sew; stop the machine after half a dozen stitches.
-Turn the dial to 3 and the right edge will sew; stop the machine at the bottom of the O.
-Turn the dial to 4 and the bottom edge of the O will sew; stop the machine after half a doze stitches.
-Turn the dial to 5 and run half a dozen stitches; this is a line of straight stitches that will 'tie off' the buttonhole.

Try this with a plain piece of fabric. Just put the fabric under the foot and dial away. You'll see how the stitches stitch.

I'll send a copy of instructions from my manual to you if you want. Email me at: [email protected].

The pressure foot on my bernina bernette 715 won't move

Troubleshoot this. Here are some steps you can take: Safety Setting Adjustment: In newer firmware versions (V9.xx), a safety sewing setting was added to prevent the ruler foot from hitting the needle holder when the foot is hovering and the needle is down. If your presser foot only raises slightly (about 2mm), it might be due to this safety setting. To resolve this, change the setting from the maximum of 2mm to a maximum of 6mm. Remember to switch it back to the original setting when using the ruler foot. Check the Needle Position: Ensure that the needle is in the highest position (raised) before attempting to move the presser foot. If the needle is down, the presser foot may not move freely. Inspect for Obstructions: Examine the area around the presser foot for any obstructions, tangled threads, or debris. Make sure there's nothing preventing the presser foot from moving smoothly. Presser Foot Pressure Adjustment: Uneven fabric feed can occur if the pressure on the presser foot is too high or too low. Adjust the presser foot pressure according to the thickness of the fabric you're working with. Power Cycle and Reconnect: Turn off the machine and disconnect it from the power source. Reconnect it and power it back on. Refer to the Manual: Consult your Bernina Bernette 715 user manual for specific troubleshooting steps related to the presser foot. If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may have to take it to a professional repair service.
