(Line by line, and Auto) The way to print in display mode is;

add the return when you reach the Right Margin.
To determine what mode you are in, on the right side of the

How do you set the typewriter to keep tying til it
Thats called "setting the margin". Look for the margin release key. It says something like "mar rel" on it. When it stops about an inch away from the end of the page, press that key and you will be able to go further. When it passes and goes as far as you want it to, then hit the margin set key. It says something like "mar set" on it. When you set the margin the carriage will go to the end of the page.
I need to fill out some scholarship applications
What type of setting up do you want to do?
Most scholarship applications are available on line. You save a copy of the application to your desktop and then use the computer to complete them.
You can take the application to kinko's and have them scan it into email for you and then send yourself a copy. Open it up on your computer and complete it that way.
If you had a book on how to set up that typewritter you would be totally lost. It's not an easy thing to do and it is also not fool proof. You may think you have it set up correctly and still not get what you want out of it.
If I remember correctly, you set the left hand margin by back spacing to the position you wish to set it at and then hit the set margin key. There should be a lever to set single and double space on the side of the carriage. Press enter to advance to the next line. Line up your paper by watching the line on the ruler that extends across the roller.

Hi - there a many reasons why this happens. Try these first. Replace the ribbon. This might have become tight (faulty) and make this happen. Next clean the main rod that the carriage goes back and forth on, it sometimes get very sticky. Then place a couple of drips of oil on. This should work wonders? Best John ex OEM trained mechanic
How do you set margins
You move the carrier, with the space bar or backspace key, to where you want the margin to be set.
If the carrier stops before you get to where you want to set the margin, then locate the ALT key at the bottom left on the keyboard, hold it down, then locate the key directly under the words above the keyboard that say M REL (the 3 key) and push it. Then move the carrier with the space bar or backspace key. (whichever direction you want to go)
When the carrier is where you want the margin set, hold down the ALT key and push the key under where it says L MAR (4) to set the left margin, or R MAR (5) to set the right margin.
The ALT key works with all the functions listed above the keyboard.
The CODE key works with the functions/charachters printed on the keys themselves.

Sound like you need to send it to a repairman, if tech. support couldn't help you. Probably a bad printwheel motor or circuit board.
