Brother EM-430 Typewriter Questions & Answers
I've hit a wrong key and now it won't print what I am typing it just moves along the line
Just hit the mode key until TYPE, on the display, is highlighted. There are 3 modes, TYPE (where the machine functions like a normal typewriter), L/L (Where what you are typing shows up in the display and then prints when you hit the "RETURN" button. You can make corrections, in this mode, before you print the line, which saves using your correction tape.) and STORE (which is used to store memory information, such as format and phrases.)
How to change arabic to english
The problem is not only the character set but the writing direction. Arabic pronts from right to left. So you should check your User's manual, what to do about. If you don't have it download fromhttp://www.manualslib.com/manual/219342/Brother-Ce-400.htmlThe problem might be is the typewriter is differet design, specific for arabic. I Actually could't find a mode to change the printing direction.
My typewriter won't type. The cartridge moves, but nothing prints
When you press a key, does the hammer move (that is what strikes the print wheel). If it doesn't, turn off the typewriter, and squirt a small amount of denatured alcohol on the hammer and try to move it in and out, (carefully!). Sometimes they gum up and stick.
Brothers ax
Turn off the typewriter, open the top-cover and inspect the area around the carrier for any damage or foreign objects.
2. Move the carrier towards the center of the machine.
a. When moving the carrier manually, it should be difficult to move, butit will move under steady pressure.
b. If the carrier moves freely, the drive mechanism may not be connectedproperly.
3. Remove the ribbon and inspect the cartridge for damage. Turn the colored knob on the left side of the cartridge to remove any slack from the ribbon.
4. Check the correction tape to insure that it has not become tangled ordamaged.
5. Close the top-cover and restore power to the machine.
If the problem persists, your machine may require service.
Beeping
If it beeps when you turn it on, most likely it is failing the post routine. The number of beeps will tell you what is wrong (if you have the error codes). Sometimes that will happen if the carriage is not all the way to the left at power on. Turn it off, and see if you can gently move the carriage all the way to the left and try it again.

It sound like you have a broken part. If the hammer is not hitting hard enough, the armature theat make the hammer strike the keys is broken. This is a common problem with the ax's
Sticky i key
Sticky isn't a really good description but i'll guess that you mean that you have to press it hard.
Under each key is a foam pad that makes contact. The foam gets old and crumbles, the pads can be replaced but generally not by the user.

The letter i wont work unless i bang the key
The keyboard is going bad underneath each key there is a foam pad tha makes contact. Old age causes the foam to go bad and crumble. They can be changed but it is a little more than a novice should attempt.
