Sharp Aquos BDHP50 Blu-Ray Player Questions & Answers
Won't play 1080p discs?
From this problem's description I have to assume that either the blu ray player will not play blu rays or the blu ray player will play blu rays but only in 1080i/720p or that you want to know if this blu ray player supports the 1080p resolution.
If the blu ray player is not playing blu rays then you update the firmware and try multiple purchased discs to make sure nothing is wrong with the ones you have been trying. If blu rays that played once will no longer play, then you will need to reset the blu ray player from its menu and possibly by holding down the power button on the front of the unit until the word reset displays on the unit before trying to play the disc again.
If the television is not showing 1080p make sure you are connected with an hdmi cable and that it is the right version hdmi cable for this blu ray player and for your television. Make sure you have chosen 1080p as the resolution to display in the blu ray player's menu. If all of that has been done and 1080p will still not display then it is a case of incompatibility between manufacturers--Sharp and whatever the television is. It would display in 1080p on a Sharp television and most likely on a Samsung and Sony as well. With other brands and even some models of the aforementioned brands (except for Sharp) its a toss up.

WHY DOES AVATAR NOT WORK ON BLU RAY
Go into the setup menu for your player and disable BD-Live.
On my player I have three options: Permitted, Partially Permitted (the default), and Prohibited.
Beginning with the Avatar disk (and since with Date Night) I have extremely long load times and Date Night wouldn't work at all.
BD-Live uses your player's internet connection to communicate with a server to download updated content to your system (e.g. up-to-date movie trailers).
Unfortunately, it seems that this is relatively new and sometimes poorly thought out. At least in my case, the default setting of Partially Permitted doesn't play well with these disks. Instead of trying to make their connection and giving up after 10 seconds or so, they just try to connect forever. To the end user (you and me) that looks like the disk won't play and/or something is broken. In fact, it's working the way the disk was programmed to work, it's just that nobody programmed what to do if there is an interned connection but there is a problem connecting to a server.
So fiddle around with your BD-Live settings. Personally, I just want to watch my dang movies. I don't want them phoning home every time I get something from Netflix. I disabled BD-Live and haven't had problems since. Maybe one day this will be a valuable service but for now it's just a pain.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

How can I make the text sharp on Magnavox model 22ME601B/F7?
- Check HDMI Cable Connection: If you're using an external device like a cable box, gaming console, or streaming device connected to the TV via HDMI cable, ensure that the HDMI cable is securely plugged into both the TV and the external device. A loose connection can cause intermittent resolution adjustments.
- Adjust Picture Settings: Navigate to the TV's menu and check the picture settings. Look for options related to display resolution, aspect ratio, or picture mode. Ensure that the settings are configured correctly for your viewing preferences. Try resetting the picture settings to default and see if the issue persists.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your TV. Sometimes, software updates can fix bugs or issues related to display resolution adjustments. You can usually check for updates in the TV's settings menu or visit the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to update the firmware.
- Check Signal Source: If you're experiencing resolution adjustments while watching content from an external device, such as a cable box or streaming device, make sure the signal source is sending a consistent signal. Issues with the signal source can sometimes cause the TV to adjust its display resolution.
- Reset TV: Try performing a factory reset on your TV to restore it to its original settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any customized settings and preferences, so you may need to set up the TV again after the reset.
- Contact Magnavox Support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the TV. In this case, it's recommended to contact Magnavox customer support for further assistance or to inquire about repair options.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue of your Magnavox TV constantly adjusting its display resolution.
Hope this helps
