I have a Panasonic DMR-EZ48V and have had many
Not having Cable TV would not stop it playing back a DVD. A good TV aerial, with new cable will cure any bad TV signals, but the fact that it is not playing back a DVD everytime tells me that there is something wrong with the unit's mechanism.
The Panasonic engineer in this case doesn't know what he is talking about.

I get a U56 error message when selection drives?
I ran into this on a Panasonic DMR-EA38V, and have discovered that yes, it is one of the input selected with the input select button. It will select DVD, usb, SD (for SD card), and VHS. Scared me for a minute!

Cannt play/record DVD's - keep
Depending on the formats of the discs you tried, and assuming they are the correct ones for this machine, it sounds very much like a defective DVD drive and/or software within the unit. If it is under warranty take it to an authorised service agent/workshop for assessment to see if it needs a new drive or not. If it isn't reading any discs, and the unit is brand new, it would most likely be the drive which would be at fault.

VHS Tape stuck
Someone needs to open the unit (we do it at our shop for 5 dollars) and cycle the mechanism manually to get the tape out.Usual cause here is the mechanism that moves the tape and rewinds it back into the cassette is having a problem--drive mechanism or belt if one is used.

On a Panasonic DMR-EZ48V I
I think it is usb, not sure why that happens though. Panasonic for some very weird reason mixes upper and lower case letters in some of their on screen bits, so you never know for sure.I know nothing about this stuff but was having a similar problem with not being able to get the dvd recorder to record onto a dvd. This was after I had set up the camcorder to the set the day before.I finally went to 'input select' on the remote and changed it until it worked again, just go through each setting until everything is back to normal.Somehow, it appears as if the dvd recorder got itself set to the camcorder and would not let go of that setting without changing the input select. I have no idea why because I never touched the input select before this, I always controlled everything with the Directv remote. Hope this helps someone.

How do i get unit back to normal after showing u61
This error is due to a faulty digital board or dvd drive.
You won't be able to fix it by yourself. You should bring it to an official panasonic service to have it repaired.
If the unit is still under warranty it will be fixed at no cost.
I'm sorry for not being able to help you much on this.

When I try to record
Hello
Sounds like it could be the fan thats packed up. When it gets too hot inside the recorder it switches on the fan but if it cant detect the fan is spinning it turns off.Hold your hand over the fan grille at the back of the machine & start to record something usually you'll be able to feel the fan kick in after a few mins
contact panasonic as those fans are specifically suited to that recorder.

I get error code fo3 or fo4 when I change input to
FO3 error means that there is something stuck inside the DVD. The first and easiest thing to try would be to unscrew the top cover, take a can of compressed air and empty it on it. Hopefully what ever is causing the block will be removed and the error will be resolved. Please be sure that the power to the DVD-Recorder is unplugged before trying this.

White colour displaying as pink
Very similar problem with my DMR-EZ27. About 10 minutes into playing back a DVD the color starts going away until I only see a black/white movie. Sometimes color comes back in partially then back to b/w

Unable to scroll thru channels on remote but can
There is no setting that can cause that. It's a hardware defect, either in the remote or in the control processor chip of the recorder. To find out which you mus do a simple test: try to scroll thru the channels with the buttons on the case of the recorder.
If it work then the remote is worn out, you will need a new one.
If it doesn't work then the processor is defective and this is the first sign on its path to a quick death. The only way to fix that is to replace the entire mainboard and that will cost more than a new unit. Either keep using this unit as is as long it will still work or just consider it dead and buy a new one.
