Mr. John either one of two things from start u have done right this is a common thing on flat sets hooked to Direct boxes by HDMI having surges come from box to set. The main board usually needs replacing, so either u received a bad board or u have multiple issues and possibly the T-CON board got surged from main board. you should be able to do this by going into your settings on the T.V. however if you can't understand the language you might want too try unplugging (the power cord) your T.V for 10-20 seconds then plug it back in and see if that will default it back to english
