Dell inspiron 1525 blank dvd

You will need to use a different brand of blank DVD-R disc, some DVD-R disc will not work with some optical drives. Try using a Sony or Phillips DVD-R discs, these two brands work best.

MY INSPIRON 1525 WILL NOT BURN DVD

Double check the brand name of your Combo/DVD drive. Try to check the specification of that brand and model of your optical drive.

Actually there are such things that your Combo/DVD drive could not burn. However DVD drives has an option to burn with DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W.

In this case if your optical drive able to burn either of the two different types of disc (which is DVD-+R/W), try another brand of DVD disc like Memorex, TDK and Sony or some other brand which is/are not generic.

Or in one case there would be a big possibility due to the Burning Software that you are using that changes the settings in the registry for your optical drive, have to follow these steps carefully.

1. Click on START then go to RUN and type regedit then click OK.

2. Under "Registry Editor" screen have to select "HKEY LOCAL MACHINE" by clicking the "+" sign.

3. Under HKEY LOCAL MACHINE select "System >> CurrentControlSet >> Class and select the first {4D...} then highlight the selection.

4. After highlighting the selection of the first {4D....} select or highlight on the Lowerfilters and Upperfilters in the right pane window and have to those two (2) filters then have to exit out on the Registry Editor.

5. Restart the laptop and try to burn a blank disc that is not being used previously.

Hope these things help you to determine. Thank you.

I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and my cd/dvd

The CD, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-RW, Blu-Ray and any other drive that uses a laser to read data from a CD. In general, most optical drive problems can be resolved by:
  • Updating the optical drive firmware
  • Updating the burning software
  • Updating the DVD playback software
  • Updating the computer's video driver in cases of video playback issues
  • Updating the computer's audio driver in cases of audio playback issues
To download the Firmware of your machine click here. i have selected the default 1525 but if you click on enter the service tag, it will give you your computer's firmware. or you can check it in device manager as well.
you can also try deleting the upper and lower filters. in regedit.

in vista. click on start /type regedit in start search.
then continue the action and then click on the +HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / + SYSTEM / +CURRENT CONTROLSET / +CONTROL /+ CLASS /+ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and on the right side look for upper filters or lower filters and delete them. and then restart the computer. it should fix this.

in case the issue is not resolved. you might need to get the optical drive replaced.

if this information was helpful. please rate the solution.

Labtop will not log into windows

I assume you mean, lap top :). It can sit on the TOP of your LAP, hence the nick-name. It's actually called a NOTEBOOK PC, but most ppl call it laptop anyhow :).

Since you do not explain what you DO see when you start the machine, I can only assume certain things.

First, we will assume the hardware is fine. Mouse, kbd, hard drive, cdrom, screen, system board, everything "starts" perfectly, and you see the DELL screen. After this point, there could be several bugs. You could have a corruption on the hard drive data area. (Although the hd might be reading as OK, the platters inside the device could be faulty, causing data loss/corruption.) Have you tried another hard drive? Also, have you used your Dell diagnostic cd's to run a test? Those discs come with each new dell. If you got it used, you can order them from Dell.com.

Now, assuming you pass the tests, then it is time to wipe and reload Windows.

Assuming you failed a test, you write down the error code, contact Dell, and see what that error indicates. Sometimes its just bad memory, and you can "get outta jail free" for only 35 bucks. (ok not QUITE free, but very inexpensive, considering). Sometimes its a failed board and you'll need to scrap it on ebay for parts, or drop about 200 bucks for a refurbished board. (sorry, but it happens).

I hope the only issue you have is a bad hard drive. That will give you the chance to not only replace your drive, but, UPGRADE it to a much higher storage capacity.

GOOD news is, if you DO have to replace the entire machine, the Dell OUTLET (outlet.dell.com) has NIIIIICE refurbished computers at less than HALF their original cost! You can sometimes get a $1400 notebook (with EVERYTHING) for about $600 bucks! I dont mean a ****-top either, I mean a 64 bit dual core CPU with 4 gigs ram, 320 gig SATA hard drive and DVD burner with Wireless built in! You can take it to taco bell and play world of warcraft during lunch! Or use the built in webcam for face to face meetings! I got one on my tax rebate and still had enough money left to pay my rent. Course, my gf has swindled it away from me, I never get to use the thing until she has a question, ha ha.

Good luck.

MY DVD DRIVE CAN READ BUT UNABLE TO WRITE DISCS

Hi,

The problem is, that you have a really simple DVD ROM (drive)

you cant really solve this problem, the only thing that you have to do is to buy a new one which will be more expensive.
However it will write discs and have many more features.

you can buy new CD/DVD ROM at any technology shops such as PC WORLD, i recomend you to buy one at "ebay' because you will get the same product a you can buy at shop, but it will coast you much less
