I don't see anything that indicates you can use it as a tethered device on a data plan via usb or bluetooth. You'll have to contact your service provider to confirm it you can or not.

The PUK is the unlock code for the SIM card, not the handset, it is requested when the user enters the incorrect SIM pin 3 times. Please contact the service or network provider for the PUK. Alternatively check the card that the SIM card was attached to at point of purchase. It usually has the phone number, PIN and PUK written on it. After you enter the PUK, you will be required to enter a new PIN this can be any nummber that your son can easily remember.
