How to access drain trap for a electrolux ewflw65

I am so sorry, this is not an answer - but were you ever able to find out how to access your drain pump?? I am having the same issue and clearing that drain pump filter out seems to be the answer. But as in all things Electrolux - it seems to be that it is going to require a service call. To which, it will be put curb side and I will spend that exorbitant amount of money on a new non-Electrolux washer. We have ALL Electrolux products, and they are all having issues of some kind or another. And of coarse the price for parts is so high you half expect the part to show up gold plated. Anyway... Any other brand of washer, this is so easy and a self cleaning task. But I am starting to worry that I will be completely disassembling the machine to get to the filter. I saw your question and thought I would see if you were able to get to it, and if so... how would you suggest as the best way to do so so that we can clean ours? Thanks and I hope you were able to get your issue solved! We really need to start up an Electrolux stress support group, lol. To Tish Tish.... Not to be curt - but just because a washer has a self cleaning option, it does not mean that it cures the problem. Any washer that you own, front or top loading, you should check your filter every so often to clear debris like coins, toys, etc that catch lint and will mold - these clogs can not be cleared by the self cleaning option on a washer. TishTish... look up "how to clean your drain pump filter on *your brand* washer". It will tell you how and you will probably be disgusted to see what you pull out of it, especially if you are cleaning it as you state above. A lot of people think that is all you have to do and then are frustrated that they can't get smells out or that they return quickly. Unfortunately, this brand (Electrolux) is notorious for designing their products in such a way that only specifically trained people can fix their cr@p (and yes, I meant that word because that is what their products are). I have called people out to fix my fridge and dishwasher and as soon as they hear Electrolux - they tell me "Sorry, we don't work on those". Because they are designed to fail and seriously hard to work on... because they were designed to only be worked on by THEIR trained people so that they would make money off of it.

Washing cycle not working. Machine can be made to spin and empty but get to wash cycle and it shows washing/cleaning but does not move. Will fill and empty though.

No agitation? first use a meter and check ur water pressure switch? that is what sends the machine the message to start wash cycle? You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube. If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good. now take the original hose tube and plug one end and blow into it the other end, it should be hard and have pressure, if it is easy to blow and u dont feel any pressure and it feels like the air is going out ? sometimes they get busted open or a pin hole and release air causing the water switch diaphram to not open. If both check ok then next CHECK the motor coupler or belt if belt driven.check with a multi meter for continuity the door switch, and if there is a little movement on wash cycle in 1 direction only then check the cam dogs in agitator.

The front door won't close, due to washer lock mechanism restricting door close.

Thank you for your inquiry, kh57ca!

From what you are describing it sounds like the door latch assembly needs to be replaced. This is not a simple DIY job though. I would recommend seeking guidance from a professional technician to properly replace the door latch to avoid any future issues. Some of these intricate parts require precision and patience, therefore when replacing such components or removing them from your appliance, I would suggest seeking professional assistance. I hope this has been beneficial. -Matt

No hot water coming in during the wash cycle.

Hello Stephen Foster - Based on the symptoms you are describing, typically, the unit could possibly have a faulty timer, temperature sensor or water valve. Confirm that the holes are properly connected. Try resetting the washer by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn the unit back on. However, if the issue persists, it is always a good idea to have a service tech properly diagnose your appliance.

Fabric softener dispenser will not empty

Hello Mike Oswald - Fabric Softener is a very thick liquid that can clog up the siphoning mechanism. Try the following steps below.
  1. Remove the Dispenser
  2. Remove the Inset in the dispenser
  3. Clean out the dispenser and dispenser cover

The Fabric dispenser needs to have the hot and cold water at equal pressure for the fabric softener dispenser to operate properly.

1. Turn on the hot water fill then cold water fill at the washer. If the Wash Sense or temperature sensing is on it needs to be off.

  • If they seem to fill at the same pressure then you will need to contact a professioanl to move forward accurately.
  • If they seem not to fill at the same then you need to correct the pressure.

Wtat is the dr code error?

Hello Aung, I appreciate your post! Based off what you have described your Electrolux washer is displaying an error code of "DR". The "DR" code means that the door is not closed or the door latch is not recognizing the door is closed. This could be an issue with your door latch or control panel. You should perform a reset on your washer and you can do that by disconnecting the power cord for at least ten minutes. If the reset does not help correct your issues I would recommend having a professional technician out to perform a proper diagnosis and repair. Best of luck! -Matt

Electrolux EWF 1486 HDW washing machine stopped working, what to do?

first test outlet to mke sure ur getting full voltage Push start switch may need to be tested with a multi meter for continuity OHMS should show a closed circuit when pushed in or turned on. The start switch on some top load washers is often part of the timer and is activated by pulling out on the timer knob. Although not normally available as a separate part, the switch can be tested for continuity with a multi-meter. You will need to remove power from the appliance and then locate the correct timer contacts as noted on the wiring diagram. On some electronic controlled models, the start switch is a momentary contact type switch located on the control console. You can test this switch for continuity with a multi-meter when the push button is held in Overheating If you've run several loads, one after another, without any problem but suddenly find your washing machine refuses to start, overheating could be the cause. The simple way to discover whether this is the problem is to give the machine ample time to cool down, say for a couple of hours, and then try it again. If it works fine, overheating has been the problem and you may have a motor with bad windings. By the way my advice is free cuz God is good! All washing machines use a motor that is responsible for spinning and agitating during the cleaning cycle. Many top load brands use a reversing motor which means the motor spins in one direction for agitating and another for spinning and draining. If the motor does not start, but makes a humming or buzzing noise then it may be defective. To verify if the motor is at fault, remove the drive and /or pump belts and then try to start the motor again. On direct drive models, you will have to disengage the pump and the direct drive coupling to the transmission. If the motor starts, then the problem is with the transmission or the pump and can be further diagnosed by reconnecting each one individually. If the motor does not start or continues to hum or buzz, then it will need to be replaced Lastly CONTROL BOARD If the control board does not provide the proper voltage to the drive motor, fill valve, drain motor or door lock then the washer may not start. The main control board on most washers is complicated and difficult to diagnose without proper test equipment and procedures. You can visually inspect the control for signs of electrical arcing or burned or damaged components on the board. You should use caution when replacing a control board as sometimes the burned components are caused by external component failures.
