Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer first, then choose "troubleshoot compatiblity". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D

Try to change USB port or update the drivers

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

To transfer data to the PC from the hard drive you must remove the battery.

you could be doing nothing wrong, These cameras have auto focus and when there pas there prime, you need to get them fixed basically.

If the output is out of focus more then likely the auto focus is your issue.

Step by step instructions for Windows 7 32-bit follow:

Insert the Panasonic CDROM.
Don't use autorun - Cancel autorun popup.
Right click on CDROM drive in "My Computer" and select 'Open'.
Right click on Setup application & choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility'.
Select 'Troubleshoot program'.
Select "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now' & click
the "Next" button.
Select 'Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)' & click the "Next" button.
Click on "Start the program..." button.
Proceed with program installation.
When installation finished cancel out of the 'Program Compatibility' window.

If you have Windows 7 64-bit the instructions are:

Insert the program CDROM.
Don't use autorun - Cancel autorun popup.
Right click on CDROM drive in "My Computer" and select 'Open'.
Right click on Setup application & choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility'.

If you have a PC with windows movie maker installed export your footage via USB2 into your video folder on PC then drag & drop or import your video into movie maker.Rip a CD music track in media player & drag & drop or import into movie maker.
turn down volume of original sound & replace with new soundtrack then publish the movie in format of your choice.

a capacitor inside this camera runs power to all the functions to operate correctly
when they go bad the unit merely shuts down
a repair can be made although the cost will outweigh the cost of a new one

once you Re-format any memory device or your camcorder in your case, once its Re-formatted you WILL NOT got any data back....but in some models you can
so you better re-format your camcorder.. make sure your pc has NO viruses/worms/cookies/Trojans ect..because if u have an infected pc then the viruses will spread like THE PLAUGE thus transmitting the virus to ANY device (internal or external)

Can you record or anything else? How long have you owned the camera and how long have you had this problem? Once I have more information I will be able to assist you further.

The Lithium battery (Button Battery) may be exhausted. It is suggested to replace the Li-Battery with a new one.
This should resolve your problem.
