Bought my Yamaha RX-V3900 6 Feb 2009. Worked great

pacdad

It is possible that there is something wrong with the system board is having a problem. However even though the TV is working fine on the bypass there still could be a problem with the HDMI cable. I have seen this a few times. Note alot of devices have a protect mode that if they are not receiving the proper signal they will go into a protect mode to make sure the device(s) do not get damaged. On that same note you might check to see if the TV board had it own fuse that my have gone out.

Another thing to look at is the port its self. Does the TV Out put have a RBG and/or standard video out put. If it does and the TV does work this point to a problem with the HDMI port or your cable. However if they do not work this could be proof that the problem is with the TV board.

A long shot option would be trying to drain all the power from the unit because you stated that the unit did lockup one day. To do this unplug all connections from the receiver including the power connections. Next hold down the power button in for about 1 minute. This will drain all the power off the system then try to turn it back on again with a different HDMI cable to see if works.

If you confirm that the TV board is bad you might look around on ebay to see if any one is selling a unit that you can pull the TV board from to fix yours.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Hi sirs l have a yamaha rxv3900.l have video and

Hi,

Low end receivers with HDMI usually only have an HDMI switch, not a repeater, therefore you need to run a digital audio connection if you want audio. Use HDMI for the video and the AV port for the audio.

Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Yamaha M-60 Power Amplifier distortion and sound goes off sometimes

Being from 1985 or there abouts, it probably needs some TLC at a Yamaha service centre. May need new capacitors and resolder dry joints for age related issues.

Jerky sound in one channel Yamaha M-60 Power Amplifier

WD-40 ... Very dangerous as it not only flammable when wet but is bad for electrical contacts as it leaves a residue behind that does not conduct electricity very well. Check speaker connections first.
