Just bought the MOTOTOROLA MR355R can't transmit beyond 1/2 mile, no transmitting signal, PLEASE HELP

A few things to check, and some facts about 2-way radio range: 1) Be certain you are using a fully charged battery. 2) Hold your radio upright perpendicular to the ground (antenna straight up) for the best range. Tilting the radio can reduce range significantly. 3) Face the direction you are wanting to transmit. 4) Wear the radio up high on your body. Height and placement of the radio determines range. 5) Double check you have the radios programmed to the exact same frequency and code. Sometimes on a "near" frequency you can transmit to another radio on a different frequency, but it would be poor and short distanced. Facts: 2-way radios are line-of-sight communications. Anything you place between the two radios will reduce your range. Outside radio-to-radio in a flat area you should be able to talk up to 2-miles line-of-sight. If you were on a mountain you might be able to talk miles and miles into the valley below. (You can talk as far as you can see in most cases.) If you go inside a building and try to talk from inside to outside you might only get 1/4 to 1/2 mi. Your range will vary according to your circumstances/location. Most TalkAbout radios are 1/2 watt radios and by comparison business radios are up to 4-5 watts, with some being aided by repeater/trunking systems which would enhance the overall range. Best regards.

My motorola has an emergency

Your radio may be functioning normally for the emergency alert. Here is an excerpt from the user guide:

Emergency Alert Mode

The Emergency Alert feature can be used to signal members in your

group of your need for urgent help. MR series radios will operate in an

automatic "hands-free" emergency control mode for a total of 30

seconds after activating the Emergency Alert. MR series radios in your

group will automatically advance the speaker volume to the maximum

setting and sound a warbling alert tone for 8 seconds. The alert tone is

emitted from your own radio speaker and the receiving radios in your

group. After the 8 second alert, any spoken words or incidental sounds at

your end will be transmitted to the group for 22 seconds. For the 30

second duration of Emergency Alert mode, MR series radio controls and

buttons will be locked to maximize reception of the emergency message.

1. Press and hold the Emergency Alert button for 3 seconds.

2. Release the button after the LED Indicator glows red and the alert tone

begins to sound. There is no need to continue to hold the Emergency

Alert button or use PTT for your message to be transmitted.

3. After the alert tone ends you may speak into the microphone. Your

voice or incidental sounds will be transmitted. The LED indicator will

continue to glow for the duration of the 22 second period.

4. After 30 seconds your radio speaker will emit a Talk Confirmation

Tone and the LED Indicator will extinguish. Operation then returns to
normal two-way mode.

Note: All Motorola Talkabout EM, MJ, and MR series radios are fully

compatible with the Emergency Alert feature. Radios other than EM, MJ,

MR series can receive the emergency alert signal, but will not respond

with adjusted volume settings, locked controls, or a warbling alert tone.

Users of other radio models set to the same channel and Interference

Eliminator Code will hear a steady tone for 8 seconds followed by the

voice transmission for 22 seconds.

Warning: The Emergency Alert feature should only be used in the event

of an actual emergency. Motorola is not responsible if there is no
response to the emergency alert from the receiving group.

WHICH CHANNELS WILL GIVE THE USER THE MOST RANGE ON A MOTOROLA TA

There is a good explanation at http://www.twowayradioforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=762

Your repeater channels, when activated will give you the most range. These 8 channels follow the basic 22 channels and have an R in front of the channel number. As the article at the link above says, you need a license and permission to use the repeater, if one is available in your area.

I have a pair of Motorola MS350 radios. 1 works fine but one does not receive or transmit. I have both radios set up the same.

If your frequency and code are set the same, you have either a battery problem or a radio problem. For a quick battery test, swap the battery pack from the good radio into the one with the problem and see if the problem moves. Then you will know if it is simply the battery. If both settings are identical and the battery swap does not solve the problem, you have a defective radio.

I need help to dismantle a motorola radius sp10 2 way radio

Remove the battery, slip a small screw driver into the slot at the bottom of the radio between the outer housing and the battery tray, gently pry up. If your radio has a pair of battery contacts on the exterior they will come up with the tray. Be gentle, and do not disturb the Mylar ribbon that runs down the back of the tray. Once the tray is removed, using a frame removal tool (shaped like a squared letter U) you slip the tool in the channels on either side of the radio where you removed the battery tray. Then slide the tool upward until it meets the two plastic ears. The tool will slip under the ears and using your tool you can push the component board out the top of the housing. If your radio has an 8-dip-switch private line board, you may want to watch you do not damage or dislodge it in the process.

Can the Motorola factory replace the battery in the H730 headset?

It is possible to have the battery in your Motorola H730 headset replaced, but it would likely need to be done by a third-party repair service as the battery is not typically user-replaceable. Motorola does not offer an official repair service for the H730 headset, so you may need to find a third-party repair service that specializes in repairing Bluetooth headsets. Be aware that third-party repairs may void any remaining warranty on the device. You can also consider purchasing a new headset if you prefer not to have it repaired.

I have two older Motorola Walkies Talkabout FR60 wont send or receive and a T5820 with the rubber broken off the antenna is is cost feasible to fix or not

I believe for the FR60 walkie-talkies, if they are not sending or receiving, the issue could be related to the antenna, battery, or internal components. You can try replacing the batteries and/or antennas to see if that resolves the issue. As for the T5820 walkie-talkie, if the rubber on the antenna is broken, it's likely that the antenna itself is also damaged. In this case, you can try replacing the antenna with a new one. Antennas are typically available for purchase online or at electronics stores. In terms of cost, repairing older walkie-talkies like these may not always be cost-effective. If the repairs are extensive or require replacement of major components, it may be more practical to purchase new walkie-talkies instead. Below are options of the options of walkie-talkies you can buy; ir?t=emerald014-20&language=en_us&l=li2&o=1&a=b071kjlcjv

Motorola sliver headset won't power on even when the green lights are solid

There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot this issue with your Motorola Silver headset not powering on:
  1. Make sure that the headset is fully charged by connecting it to the charger for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Check the battery contacts in the headset and charger to ensure that they are clean and free of debris.
  3. Try resetting the headset by holding down the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Try a different charger or charging cable to see if that resolves the issue.
  5. Make sure that the headset is not in pairing mode.
  6. Check the headset manual for any information regarding troubleshoot, or if there are any specific instructions for turning on the headset.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a problem with the headset itself and you may need to contact Motorola for further assistance. Please note that the information provided is based on my knowledge cut-off date and it may not be current.

Can you use the Motorola XPR 4550 as a police scanner?

The Motorola XPR 4550 is a two-way radio, not a scanner. Scanners are devices that can listen to a wide range of frequencies, whereas two-way radios are designed for communication between a limited number of specific devices on specific frequencies. However, you can use a scanner to listen to the frequency that the Motorola XPR 4550 is transmitting on.

Motorola XTL5000. encoding is working but decoding is not. If you encode a different tone on another radio it still hears it.
