Emerson Quiet Kool 10GV13 Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
What would cause my emerson quiet kool air conditioner 10GC13-L to keep tripping the breaker?
It probably has something shorted to ground or the compressor or motors are stuck causing a high amperage problem. The breaker is probably fine but it also could be weak but normally its the compressor or a component has faulted to the compressor. If the unit immediately trips breaker its probably shorted to ground. If the unit struggles to start and a few seconds pass before it trips then it may be a component fault.
Generator
Your question doesn't make sense as it is written, but if the real question is what size generator do you need to start the air conditioner I might offer the following....
Look on the air conditioner product label and you will find information concerning the supply voltage and current. This is a 2 ton unit and it probably requires 220VAC power. Also on the label will be a value for the maximum OPD (over current protection device). This indicates the maximum fuse or circuit breaker that can be installed in the power feeder line for the air conditioner. You will need a generator that is capable of supplying this amount of current during the start up of the air conditioner. The value is usually about 2-1/2 times the normal operating current that the generator will need to supply continuously. This is because the air conditioner is full of motors that draw a lot of current when starting up. If the generator can't supply sufficient start up current, the motors will not start and the AC will not operate. As a result, the generator size is usually relatively large in comparison to the actual size required to keep the AC running after start up. This is also why AC units are not typically powered from generator power. Good Luck!
Do you know the quietest window air conditioner for under $250?
Most people buy the largest one they can find. It comes on, cools the room quickly and then shuts off. This is exactly what you don't want to happen because it does nothing to solve the humidification problem that is usually more of a problem than the temperature. Buy a smaller air condition that will come on and remain on for an extended period. It will remove the moisture from the room and make the air more comfortable. It will also draw less power and typically operate quieter since the compressor and fans are smaller. Of course it all depends on where you live... if you are in the desert, then humidity probably isn't the issue....
Black flakes
Chances are what you are seeing is not mold, but deteriorated insulation from the inside of the unit being ejected out the air discharge.
You may need to partiallly disassemble the front of the unit and find the area where the insulation may be damaged. If it's badly deteriorated, it may need to be replaced. In some units, the insulation is glued. In others, it's clipped in.
If it's just bruised, then a small piece of metal screening (1/8" or 1/4" hardware cloth) can be placed and secured over the damaged area to prevent subsequent damage and the black flecks you are witnessing.

I can't find any reference to the Model No you've given.
If you can provide any further information or numbering from your unit I'll keep looking.
NEED TO PURCHASE A FILTER
If you live in the US, these filters are available anywhere where air conditioners are sold ... I believe I would look at one of the Big Box stores. Buy the approximate sixe and cut it to fit your aplication.

Exhaust - should be closed when using for Air Conditioning
Energy savings turns the fan off with the compressor when set for Air Conditioning
Fan Only means just that (no Air Conditioning)
Fan speeds Quite same as low, Norm same as medium, Super same as High
Temp settings, what the thermostat senses before cycling compressor.
Hi there im in need
Hi killemwit335,
This seems to be the problem of the fan belt which has slipped and needs a replacement.
When the belt slips , it makes such screeching noises , similar to the ones you find in diesel engine cars.
It could also be the problem with the frozen bearings , but not as likely as the belt slippage.
The third possibility could be a very dirty air filter which has not been cleaned since a long time.
You would require to remove it and clean it and then it should work fine.
Hope this helps ..:)
