Forgotten pre-shared key for D-Link Router
I thought there was a check box in this model that enabled you to see the password/key. If not then you may have to do a factory reset and set-up everything from scratch. Cannot remember if this model has a guest mode, but if the device you are connecting is not critical, TV, BlueRay, Roku etc, then enable the guest mode without a password to connect. These devices will NOT connect to other things on the network, but if they only need internet access it may be OK.
Internet connection cutting out intermitently
1. check the current firmware updates
2. verify no other devices next the the router interfering with the signal i.e. cell phones, cordless phone, microwaves, TV sets.
3. check your router or cable modem for connection during time the wireless is dropping connectivity.
Dir 615 Instructions
Hi,
You can access the router through web interface and configure it. The default username is admin and leave the the password field blank - Don't type anything - and Click Login). All
you have to do is connect the router to the DSL Modem through LAN cable
(or wirelessly) and make configure the router according to the needs and ISP. To secure
the connection follow the following steps: -First
you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer)
by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is
192.168.0.1 (written at the back of router) and lookup for the options
to do the
following: - 1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and leave the the password field blank - Don't type anything)(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)Next step is to secure it:1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings"
2.Under "Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length4. Click ApplyNow your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.
You may refer to Product Manual (Page47 onwards for security settings)

Password (admin) not working when i tried to set

Everyone has access to my
Insert the disc you got with the router and set up some security like WPA/WPA2 ,this way you create your own passphrase and without that passphrase you wont be able to hookup to the router or the internet, good luck
I switched off mac filtering because my new laptop
There is a reset switch ( pin hole ) at the back of the router press it with a pin ( thumbtack) hold for 10 sec and the router will go back to factory settings and that will allow you to start over again, and you don't need to use your mac address to set your PC on the network ip address is normally enough, just part of the mac is use by TCP-IP to reply to you when sending a request to the Internet.
D-Link Router not working suddenly.
Can you connect to the internet via an ethernet cable to the router, or even to the modem???
Are the computers set to automatically detect settings in internet options.
They may have been reset due to an update
Control panel / internet options / connections / lan settings / tick the box for automatically detect settings
It won't connect with laptop
Here are a few simple things to check:
If your PC is connected via wireless:
- Make sure you didn't go out of signal range
If your PC is connected via wired cable:
- Make sure the cable is secured into your router
If both check out:
- Check the cable between your router and internet modem.
If all connections are solid:
- Try using a different cable from the PC to the router, and from the router to your internet modem. Cables can go bad, and a new one could be an easy fix.
If all else fails, you may have experienced an intermitted connection issue:
- Try unplugging your internet modem and router for 30 seconds, then plug in your internet modem first and after 60 seconds plug in your router.
- Try restarting your PC
If none of those work, contact your Internet Service Provider.
Cannot get laptop connection
Please check the lights on the router. All the lights should be solid and not be blinking. If everything is fine than there would be a need of configuring the router or you need to upgrade the firmware on the router.
Let me know your findings.
**If this works please rate else let me know in case of further help.**
