Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to the manual in the link you posted, and from Google image searching to look closely at the remote, it doesn't appear to be a universal. The only way you can control your TV with it would be via the DVD player hooked into the TV, and then you will still only be able to control the standard functions of the DVD player (i.e. pause/play, stop, FF/Rew, menus, subtitles, etc.) but not the functions of the TV (i.e. volume, channel, power, etc.). the set will need to have a professional diagnosis to determine the problem. You could be dealing with a failure of the power supply, inverter board, bad CCFL lamp, main board, or T-con failure.

This is called "Field Collapse". Line collapse is different (a single vertical line) in the centre of the screen.
But field collapse is usually a fault in the field circuit (possibly a field output IC has gone short circuit) or electrolytic capacitors have dried out. The same can happen in a CRT TV - looks as if LCD panels are the same way! I think you will have to take this to a service centre.

Where there is smoke be careful---something burned---If you cannot see it voltages will have to begin with be tested and it is possible it happened inside a place where it cannot be seen.Look down in the area where the smoke was seen--a part or a wire or a plug even may have smoked.

Hello,The LCD panel is the major cost in a TV, you will be better off just getting a new TV. To et a panel for your unit you will need to contact memorex but with shipping it will almost be the price o a new unit.

Likely a dirty or bad optical pickup that reads the disc before it can play--if a inexpensive unit cheaper to replace than repair unless cleaning helps.

hi, make sure that you are playing the correct color system disk they are disk recorded in a standard NTSC disk if you are living in US or PAL SECAM from arab country.same with your DVD player check if your player supports a multisystem disk...You can also try to switch the color system from your remote control you switch from NTSC to PAL system...

Use the menu button to get into the set's menu and try to program without a remote----failing that GOOGLE the model number to locate a new remote.
