No display or beeps, Tried everythin, and out of ideas

ok, you seem to have covered most of the normal trouble shooting procedures.. Now, you say it beeps when you take all the ram sticks out but does nothing when you fit ram. My first impression is that this is a ram issue. Maybe the ram is not compatible with the board or has been damaged. This can also be the case if the board itself is damaged. It could be that the i/o controller chip may have thrown in the towel and fitting ram causes the board to access this chip. No ram means control passes over to the BIOS error routines and the i/o chip is NOT accessed. Or, it could be both.. Try the ram sticks in another PC first. Static discharge damage is very common, even if you have the anti-static mats etc. I have mats, a wrist strap even my workbench is grounded along with my soldering station etc but I have still damaged boards through static discharge. I have also found that some brands of Ram simply do not work with certain boards so try the ram in another PC first !! Also, make sure that the ram you are using is correct and that you are NOT mixing different sizes or speeds. Next, make sure that non of the USB ports in the case are connected and that the boards own USB ports are not damaged as a bent pin in a port will always cause issues. Sorry that this may not be much help but as I said before, you are covering all the bases, the beeps without ram are making me lean towards a ram issue though..

ASROCK K8 Combo Z When I turn on there is no

Hi c_j_quinn,

There could be many things that could stop the board from turning on, Determining if it works is like detective work. What I do, is take everything off the board to start. Then add the minimum to start a board to see if it will start. That's one drive (cd or otherwise) the CPU, and one bank of memory. (that's not a required eliminate, but it helps avoid beep codes) Also, make sure you have your pin's set on the board absolutely correct, or that could be your problem to begin with. Now, you should get the power supply on, and the cpu. If those don't power up, it's then either one of the five elements. The CPU, Power supply, Ram, Drive, or the motherboard. The next step is to replace each one of the first four to see if you get any change. If no change, then I usually get another board that I can test the first four, and make sure that they work. After that, then I say you have a DOA Board

Good Luck
Mark

Asrock G31M-S No Display/not Booting

First of all, check if there are any inflated capacitors, if there is even one- ditch MBO, other capacitors will soon follow. If no inflated capacitors proceed with these diagnostic steps: 1/ disconnect all peripherials (DVD, HDD, card reader...), leave only MBO, PSU and RAM (and CPU of course); if nothing happens 2/remove CMOS battery (CR2032) for 20-30 sec with power cord disconected from computer, that will reset BIOS; 3/ take out RAM sticks, then, if you have more than one stick, try with each stick separately (it might be faulty RAM); 4/power on MBO without any RAM-if speaker is present it should give BEEP signals; 5/ try with different PSU, many power supplies are faulty even when they do give power to MBO. If nothing of above does not help than you have faulty MBO, because CPUs are so rare to fail that in my 10 years of experience in PC service I had 3-4 fried CPU-s, and even that was because costumer tried to clean PC, removed CPU cooler and than incorrectly placed it back or didn't put thermal paste afterwards. asrock-g31m-s-no-display-booting-yuc33qzjuwfqgyyin4u45syc-4-0.jpg
