Just built my first PC and it is stuck on POST screen and I cannot reset BIOS. Is there a way to do so besides jumper'ing it and/or taking out the battery on the mobo. I have tried both of those.

Hate generic information. What is the model number? But in the meantime..................1) Do you have all the power cables needed plugged in?Besides the 20 or 24-pin ATX main power cable, there is another power cable that goes to the motherboard -> Maybe.http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#atx12v4This is power for the Processor. Some of the older AMD boards do not use it. Intel Pentium III's and Intel Celeron's (Of the same period), do not use it.Newer motherboards may require this power cable instead,http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#eps8NOT to be confused with this graphics card power cable,http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnectors/connectors.html#pciexpress8Yes? We're good to go?2) Let's regress then. The motherboard is mounted to a Support Plate. The Support Plate can be a separate metal plate, that mounts to the motherboard; or is an integral part of the computer case. The motherboard mounts to the Support Plate with either plastic Spacers, or metal Standoff/s.If you are using metal Standoff's make SURE that everyone of them on that Support Plate, line up with a motherboard mounting hole.If not there is the likelihood that a metal Standoff could touch an exposed solder joint, on the bottom of the motherboard.Result?Short Circuit.MOST of the time the problem can be alleviated by removing the 'offending' metal Standoff; or moving it to the correct spot.4) Did you FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions?5) Did you apply Thermal Paste, and properly?6) Is the Processor fan hooked up?7) Have you removed the Ram Memory, and reinstalled again?Ram Memory can easily be bumped during the build, and you won't know it's loose.Visual inspection will NOT do.You have to remove, AND reinstall to be Assured.Do you know if the Ram Memory is correct for your motherboard, AND the Processor you have installed?Ram memory typically operates at HALF, of the Processor's FSB.Front Side Bus.Do you have a Ram Memory module ('Stick'), inserted into ram memory Slot 1? (DIMM 1)This is the ram memory slot the Processor reads first. MUST be a ram memory module in Slot 1, no matter what.Where the other ram memory modules are (If more than one), installed doesn't make a tinker's dam in this particular moment. You can rearrange for setting up Dual Channel later.(If the motherboard supports using ram memory in a Dual Channel configuration)8) Have you tried using JUST the Processor, and Ram Memory? You should get the BIOS Setup screen. If not something is dead wrong with that motherboard.(Provided that the Power Supply is deemed GOOD)9) Yep. You guessed it. Power Supply.Do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt Mr.Mason,.......(Wait a minute...........too much Perry Mason...........)Do you know the Power Supply is good?Sometimes even a new one is a dud.Do you have an inexpensive multimeter I can guide you with, for testing the Power Supply? They're about $5 to $12. Available at a multitude of stores. An auto parts store is but one example.I have seen them in checkout aisles at major discount stores.[Your Power Supply is a converter. Converts high AC Voltage; 100 to 240 Volts; to Three main low DC Voltages;3.3 Volts, 5 Volts, and 12 Volts. In comparison two D cell flashlight batteries produce 3 Volts DC.I can safely guide you in testing ]If not, do you have an alternate KNOWN to be good, Compatible power supply; that can be used for a temporary test unit?Do you know the Power Supply has the required Wattage?Did you use, may I ask, a Power Supply Wattage Calculator to arrive at that conclusion?http://support.asus.com/PowerSupply.aspx?SLanguage=enhttp://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jspLet's get you into BIOS Setup, and go from there.(Yeah I know. Duh!)Please post additional questions in a Comment.Regards, joecoolvette

Sound driver for core i3

There is somany sound drivers. Core i3 is not a search term for that. That depends on which motherboard you use. Realtek, sigmatel, IDT,etc are commonly used. Note down your motherboard model no and search in google for a sound driver or you can get that from motherboard driver cd. Otherwise go to control panel>device manager>audio>right click there and update the sound driver online.Hope this helps

An standard error signifies it as a video problem or keyboard not connected. But it really depends on your BIOS manufacture and version. If it's not video or kb, the maker will show on your screen during post. Search that for a true description.

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizardverify that the keyboard is connected properly to the computer by turning off your computer and then disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard to the computer

Ensure that there are no stuck keys on the keyboard. If all keys appear to be ok and you have a standard desktop computer with keyboard, turn the keyboard over and gently hit the back of the keyboard to loosen any dirt or hair that may be stuck in the keyboard.

Bad keyboard

Try another keyboard on the computer to verify that the keyboard has not gone bad.

Bad PS/2 or AT port

If all of the above solutions are not able to resolve your issue it is likely that the port on the back of the computer may be bad and the motherboard or I/O board may need to be replaced.
