My Nikon Coolpix s4000 can't read the memory card
Your problem carries all the hallmarks of "your card isn't fast enough". Check your manual to see what speed of card is required for HD video. If it doesn't say, try a card that says as least "Class 10" or "10Mb/s" or "66x".
P.S. if you set the movie resolution down to 640x480 it has a better chance of working...
Camera does not open, it is attached to the mains and has green light
1) recharge the batteries very well or put NEW ones.2) better put some adaptor for to test if the problem is not the batteries.3) if the camera work with the adapter , the problem is the power supply in the camera. you must go to the repair shopt. However read your owner camer, for tips, and troubleshooting section.God bless you
What is the best image mode for Nikon Coolpix s4000
That depends. If there was a single "best" mode for all pictures then the designers wouldn't have put other modes into the camera. The best mode depends on what you're taking a picture of, and more importantly, on what you want the picture to say to the viewer. For a landscape, for example, you'll probably want everything from the flowers in the foreground to the mountains in the background to be in focus. For a portrait, you'll want the person's face in focus but the background to be blurred. For a picture of kids at play you'll probably want a fast shutter speed to stop the action. For a picture of leaves swirling in a stream you may want a slow shutter speed. The best mode depends on what YOU as the photographer want the image to say.
My camera doesn't turn off, the lens get stuck and the screen keeps as if it was "off"
1) Try to change by new batteries or recharge the batteries.2) Clean the contact batteries very well, with special spray contact.3) Retigh the spring contact a little with a plier for to make a better contact batteries.4) Put a little spray contact cleaner to the main switch. a try again. If all this fail, you must go to the repair shop, the power supply inside is faulty.God bless you

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as
Picasa or
Nikon Transfer.
HD videos won't upload to computer?
How are you trying the upload? Is your camera connected via USB or are you using a card reader? What program(s) are you using? You should be able to do the upload by using a card reader and the operating system's file explorer to copy the file.
Nikon coolpix s4000 write protected
Take out the memory card and you will see a small switch on the one side of it. Move the switch out of the lock position. It should say lock on one side of the memory card. Once you move the switch out of the lock position the camera is no longer write protected.
My nikon s4000 coolpix digital camera was dropped
The
lens error indicates that the movement is inhibited possibly by sand or grit. It
also may be misaligned or an internal component has failed. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.
Try
turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge
anything stuck and try removing batteries and memory card. There are a
number of things you can try:
- Ensure batteries are fully charged
- Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand or other dirt etc
- Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
- Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 2 minutes and refit
If
no luck then we have to try some things that could possibly result in
damaging your camera so should only be tried if happy to take that
risk...
a. Try thumping the camera into your other hand, by thumping
into your hand you are trying to jar the mechanism loose, by using your
hand you will hopefully not do it too hard or it will hurt. You may need
to do this a dozen or so times in different places to work. I have
found the flat of the camera bottom into the flat of your hand best.
b.
If the lens is stuck in the out position then remove the batteries and
try twisting the lens first one way then the other, do not apply
excessive force when doing this or you can break gears, you are trying
to reposition not force... Likewise if the lens looks like it is crooked
you can try pushing it back into position. This has a higher chance of
doing more harm than the thump so please be careful...
c. Dismantle the camera, not for the faint hearted, you need to dismantle the lens assembly into the main body of the camera.
Additionally, here are a few links to some other things to try. With newer
cameras I am usually hesitant to suggest these options
since they include some more extreme procedures that may
cause further damage if not done correctly, but since
yours is probably no longer under warranty, they may save you an
expensive repair bill. An older Canon camera is used to demostrate these procedures but, the
lens structure of these compact cameras is the same so
the examples do apply to this unit. These procedures are
effective about 60% of the time. Click on or copy and paste the links into your browser.

Lens error
Hello
Thank you for using FIXYA!!!
This
is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take
the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you
need any assistance.
The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope
the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need
any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you
found this helpful.

Where is the review picture button and how do I
The playback (or review) button is the bottom button on the back, marked with a right-pointing triangle. To delete a picture while viewing it, tap the trashcan icon on the right side of the screen (fifth from the top).
You can download a copy of the manual from

How do i transfer picturesstored
If you have a working connection between your camera and your computer, then simply remove the memory card before making the connection. You'll be able to transfer the pictures from the internal memory, since the card is not present.
To copy pictures from the internal memory to the card, use the Copy command in the Playback menu. Full details are in the "Copy (Copy Between Internal Memory and Memory Card)" section of the manual (page 100 in my copy).
Turn off flash on the coolpix nikon s4000
Tap the flash mode control (the lightning bolt, probably with the word "AUTO" unless it's been changed). Tap the desired flash mode (lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it for OFF), then tap the x to close the menu.
Full details are in the "Setting the Flash Mode" section of the manual (starting on page 42 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from
