Why not look in the manual to see if there are any settings you have inadvertently changed ? BTW, you don't need a tall building - knocking it off a table would probably have the same effect.

Per Evan89's remark above, on these units the "shutter" button fails in the "on" or "down" position. There are a lot of reports on the internet. As soon as you turn the camera on it charges the flash and takes one or more pictures. It won't respond to other controls because it senses that the shutter bitton is depressed. A side effect is that the battery drains quickly. I'm looking around to see if I can order a replacement switch assembly since these cameras are easy to take apart.

Replace the battery.

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Try looking on the base.

the lcd screen is broken, you should replace it immediately. It effects your camera normal working. you can send it to maintance center or buy a replacement.

Since there is no mention of the problems in the camera , I am not able to help with any suggestions.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Check to make sure that the capture button is not getting stuck in the down position.

HI there remove the battery & card then put the camera in sunlight for few hours. Some how water goes inside and thats why its short & not turn on. After all this whats going on please let me know. Thanks,

Hi there please follow the steps and let me know the result.
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged & clean the battery connector point in side the battery compartment.
2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.
3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only.
5. Now turn on camera( with out card ) and see ,if working then fix the memory card & again turn on the camera. If working then fine . Otherwise format the memory card and fix back in camera again & try. Make sure before format the memory card take a back up all photos in your computer then format. If no luck then reset or restore the camera setting by pressing Menu key for 2 sec .. in not done the press both Menu & self time key for 2 - 4 sec.

if you have condensation on the inside of the glass your camera has been shorted out maybe letting it dry out for a few days would work but you can also try a local camera shop and see if they can help.

Never remove or insert a memory card while the camera is turned on. Try removing the battery, waiting about 30 minutes, and then putting in a freshly charged battery. Never remove or insert a memory card while the camera is turned on!!!!!!

Put it in the airing cupboard to dry out for 48 hours

Hi. Your camera is too old to accept that big a card. The camera will let you know what size it will accept. Just keep putting larger sizes until it stops. Hope that helps.

The green light only means the memory card is getting power. That nothing else comes on indicates a serious problem that requires a trip to your local camera shop for help.
