I have a Williams direct vent wall furnace(LP) and something is wrong with the pilot. It wants to blow out when the furnace runs just a few minutes and appears the flame of the pilot is shooting out b

You will need to remove the burner and then you can gain access to the pilot assembly, it sounds like the pilot is rusted and falling apart, it is recommended to replace the pilot assembly. These direct wall units need maintenance before the call season and after for them to work efficiently

Pilot wont stay lit changed to new thermocouple

well if you have 6.2 psig at the valve that is your problem. most valves will only take an inlet pressure of 14" wc or about 1/2 psig. as pilot gas comes out of the valve with no regulation it would be blowing like a son of a gun. so if you have 6 .2" wc,water colum you are in good shape. have you tried to jumper the limit connections? a paper clip would work just fine. but if it does work no fair leaving it in place as a great danger may come your way. tell me what the pilot looks like blue and sharp or yellow and layz. there is a magnet in the valve that the thermocouple screws into but these dont often go bad.

I have an 435fx-r lpg

Hello
Even though it can be fixed by spot welding, it will be dangerous to use this device because, a tiny leak will be fatal since LPG is a dangerous gas to handlewith. It will be best to replace it with a new one, other than to repair and use this device.

Williams direct vent model1403612

Sounds like the Thermocouple or Thermopile has failed and will need to be replaced. You may also need to clean the pilot orifice. If you still have your Owners Manual, you can look up the part number and order it according to the instructions in the Owners Manual.

How do you change the thermal coupler

Hi,
The thermocouple is the copper rod that sticks up into the flame on your pilot...
The rod is removed either by just pulling down on it or by unscrewing the holder...sometimes it is easier to take the screws out of the pilot assembly bracket and remove the whole pilot assembly. Many times you can get in there and just remove the thermocouple.
The thermocouple is also screwed into the gas valve...a small adjustable wrench works well to remove that...even a small pliers will do...turn CCW to remove the thermocouple from the gas valve...
Then replace the thermocouple with a new one of the same length...they can be purchased at many hardware stores or HVAC supply houses... or bought online...

The replacement procedure is just the reverse of the removal...be careful not to cross thread the gas valve end, as the threads are very fine...
Adjust the end of the thermocouple to have the pilot flame hitting just the very top 1/4" of the rod....

This should get you up and running again...!!

How do i light pilot light?

Remove front cover,or just lower section if you can. they usually just need to be lifted up about an inch or so and pulled out. However some have covers that snap in place. After you remove cover locate gas valve. It should have a control knob on top with markings for on, off, and pilot. Set control to pilot. Follow lines from gas valve to burner compartment, one goes to main burner one ,small copper colored line is the thermocouple, other line is the pilot. Turn thermostat down as far as it will go. Make sure gas supply valve in line to heater is on and then depress pilot control , when you have pilot control depressed have a match or other small flame source close to pilot assembly. If it lights then hold down on pilot control for a couple of mins. Slowly release pilot control and if it stays lit turn gas control to on. Turn thermostat up to call for heat and burner should light. If pilot doesn't stay lit when you release pilot control then try again holding pilot down longer. If it still won't stay lit then thermocouple will need replace. Good luck. Thanks

I have a williams model 4007732 heater. It just

if you have replaced thermocouple make sure your connection to valve is tight enough as i have found new heaters where a slight tighten on connection is all they need if not its the pilot spring inside valve some valve this can be fixed others replace valve altogether an old trick we used to do on solanoids that work similar was to give a tap on the area where slide or spring located it worked sometimes and sometimes only over night so probably easier to change valve in heater, one more thing before you change valve take pilot assembly out and check where pilot flame comes from found spider webs inside before stopping the pilot and in some cases pilot lights but like a lighter straight up missing thermocouple all together and is yellow because oxygen is reduced because of web sounds unbelivable but i ordered a full pilot assembly for a flame fire once changed to new took old one apart and found spider web then talking to the service guy who trained me said it was a common fault for him so it does happen

How do you turn the pilot light back on? This is

Move the gas valve knob to the PILOT position and press down on the knob. You will be pressing down on a spring loaded safety magnet. Now light the pilot and keep holding down the knob till the thermocouple gets hot enough to produce electrical current and hold that spring loaded magnet in. This is your safety device. If the heat gets too hot the furnace has a fuse in line with that magnet.
When the pilot stays lit by itself without you having to hold down the button then advance the knob to the ON position. Then go to the wall thermostat and turn on the heater.

Usually there is a small screw near (below) the pilot flame, loosen that and the thermocouple should slide out of the clip. You might need a flashlight to see it.
