It is something I learned over the years believe me know one likes not being able to log on to their own computer. This is why I stress to my clients and often do it for them after service a password reset disc. I never set the BIOS password on any computer just the Windows portion, as well as use the last four digits of my social. Have been doing this not for over 10 years never been hacked. Some may even say, "Good for You!
I have to start making notepad notes of these answers for people who ask questions regarding their lost password issue. I know your depressed enough about and do not need some geek lecturing you about passwords. So I will begin to suggest to you the bottom line here. "Your in a pickle"
1. Here is what I would do in my own case if it happened to me "Knock on the Keyboard" Re-install my operating system period. Be done with it. That is just me. I like to do that anyway, because it makes my computer all new again. Of course I keep my files off of my computer and C:\ so in case of a crash, I have those wonderful pictures and documents software programs, etc. So that when I re-install my Windows back problem is solved and it takes me a few minutes to re-install my stuff I want to keep back on the machine.
2. Or I can take it in and have a professional shop bypass it for me they have the same software you can get online for free. The question is there are so many of them out there these days which one. I know you want me to tell you what the goods are. Go to Google.com in the search box, type without the quotes, "absolutely freeware password recovery software" You will find a bunch of them there just pick one try it, if it does not work try another one. Maybe someone who answers questions as well can send you a link. The problem is when folks ask a question, there is no information about their computer available so that I can go and see the third option.
3. Manufactures have bypass codes you can often times use to bypass your forgotten password. Oh I forgot always use a password hint something you will remember your password "A Hint" Mine is the last four digits of my SS number. How can I forget that right. It would take your forever to guess it. Like the lottery.
4. Call the manufacturer, they may tell you the bypass code to enter. No harm no foul. After all they are there to assist you with your computer needs, in most cases I do not have to much faith in that. I have learned over the years.
5. Take out the CMOS battery for about 2 hours. On some machines their is even a CMOS jumper to bypass the password all together. You may be one of those lucky folks that has a jumper, I do not know since there is no information on the model or name of your computer in the question.
There are 5 for you to ponder, please after all that headache do yourself and those reading this make a password reset disc as well as open the DVD or CD tray and take a piece of scotch tape with a little white strip of paper write the password down and stick it to the bottom of the tray really good. Or take one of those marks black non removable ink and place it right under the disc tray slide out when you open the disc tray you can look underneath and find your password every time. Just a great suggestion............John
