After the engine starts you must put the mower into gear so that it moves. Look for the gear shift lever or whatever.

It sounds like it has a short on it or the alternator isn't giving a charge. check the wiring for breaks... charge the battery up and get a altmeter to test if when running the battery is getting a charge, hope this helps

To make it easy for repair, jack up lawn mower from the front, use jack stands to support the front frame, if you have a engine puller handy you can hook a chain to the front frame. There should be a 5/8 or 9/16 bolt or nut on lawnmower blade, need a impact driver to remove, do not remove with a wrench or hand tools or you risk of breaking the mandrels. Be sure to check the splines that hold the blade on place for ware and when installing them be sure you have a snug fit and hold the blade in the slot and insert nut or bolt back in place, if the blade is not in the slot you can strip the shaft and it will have to be replaced. It is good to put anti seize on the bolt or nut threads to make it easier to remove and install.

raise the front of the mower to gain access to the underside where the blades are, using the right size wrench undo the bolt or bolts that hold the blades on and remove them from the mower, replace the blades and tighten the bolts to the required torque, lower the mower to the ground and take it for a test run.

Check to see if the solenoid is getting power. On the solenoid there are 3 wires. Two big, one from the battery, the other going to the starter. The 3rd wire is what activates the solenoid. Using a test light or volt meter. See if its getting power on the small wire when you turn the key. If no power, ignition switch, safety switches or fuses. If you are getting power replace the solenoid. If you have 4 wires. Test the two smaller ones.

spring must be broken that holds tension remove engine cover or look on side of carb and vain lever and see if there is a mouse nest in under the engine cover or if spring is broken dont let it rev you will blow a rod, sometimes the govenor comes apart in the engine you will need a small engine shopJoe

Look over the entire wiring harness wherever it may be touching metal as it probably is chaffed, simply tape and zip tie it away from the ground source.
