Why does it keep blowing the 30 amp fuse as soon as I turn the switch?
You have what is commonly called an "Dead Short". Meaning that one or more wires that carry positive flow from the battery is grounded against the frame (In most cases that I have seen) Tracing a short can be a hair raising experience if it is intermittent. The first thing to check is the negative battery cable to make sure it is clean and tight. Then follow the negative cable down to the the frame or under the frame and make sure the bolt is tight. Also, if your engine bolts are loose, this also will cause the fuse to blow.

There is a small slined wheel that is plastic which serves to enguage the starter and flywheel. This is mounted on the end of the starters armiture by a configuration of springs , weights and a small bolt / roll pin. When the starter turns , centrifigul force is used to raise the plastic splined wheel...It sounds to me that the splines are all broke off , The mechanism that causes the splined wheel to blossom , or the alignment of the starter has been set off somehow.
