Grimmel Bros upright piano. I just want to know how to close the Falsettoing thing so the cats stop scaring the sharp out of everyone.

It sounds like you are referring to the fallboard or key cover of your Grimmel Bros upright piano. To close the fallboard, gently push it up towards the piano's music stand until it clicks into place. The curved part you mentioned is probably the key cover, which can be lowered to protect the keys from dust and debris when the piano is not in use. To lower the key cover, grasp it at the center and gently pull it towards you until it lays flat over the keys. If your cats are causing problems by jumping on the piano keys, you may want to consider covering the piano with a fitted cover or keeping the room door closed to prevent them from accessing the instrument.

Is there any possibility the phone is liquid damaged near the dock connector? This is the first thing the apple store will check. If so, you'll be on your own to finance a replacement @ $149 for a service part. If not and you're still in warranty you may be in luck. That said, a restore will be the first order of business in either case, so IF you can get it backed up... do so, and try a Restore as new device on your own... NOT FROM BACKUP. Then take it in and see...how to check for liquid damage externally: even slightly pink will be a YES... so get a light and check it out.

I have a clavinova that doesn't make sound

Try the headphone jack... if there is sound there, then it is either the speaker amplifier or a loose cable. It would be rare for BOTH speakers to fail completely.

1 key does not spring

The elektrotanya website link proposed in the other solution here did not work for me. So with a similar sticky keys problem on my YDP-113 yamaha digital piano, i just started taking it apart.

I found that the problem was that the sticking keys actually had small cracks at the hinge end. See attached photo for a picture of the hinge end of the key. The cracks are very small and hard to see, but if this is your problem, you will see it in a good light. Having the key apart will also allow you to clean the sides well in case there has been a bubble gum attack or similar problem.

After learning that replacement keys are extremely expensive (like $15 per key...) I decided to move the bad keys to the highest and lowest notes on the keyboard (88 key keyboard so there is some seldom used territory). The center several octaves are now free of sticky keys and this is good enough for now.

The procedure on my YDP-113 was:
1. Remove black screws from back panel of unit to allow top to slide forward and then lift off. Set aside.
2. Roll the roll top all the way closed and then simply lift up to remove. Set aside.
3. Remove the six screws which attach the roll top gear rail (3 screws on each side panel). Set aside the gear rails.
4. Remove 2 screws in the key top bracket, and 1 screw from each end of the key top. "Key top" is my name for the small strip which lies along the top of the keys. If you have an official or better name, please share.
5. Remove the 10 or so large screws and two small screws which hold the keyboard panel down in the unit. The keyboard should now be able to slide a few millimeters toward the back of the unit.
6. Remove 1 screw to take out the power switch panel. The front of it hooks in with a tab, so slide it back and then it will lift out.
7. Careful now. I felt this was the one operation where I had an opportunity to ruin the unit if I would have fumbled: Lift the keyboard up slightly and rest its front 'legs' on the front edge of the case. Careful of small wires to not rip them. Careful of the circuit boards that are underneath the keyboard frame. jeff20112011.jpgThe objective here is to allow the keys to come out toward you so that they can be removed and replaced or swapped. You can kind of see in the cracked key end photo, how the keyboard is up and partially out of the unit.
8. You now can do the actual swapping. To remove a key, pry up very gently in back of the key with a small screwdriver. jeff20112011_0.jpgIt will pop up. Then gently work the key around to free it from the return spring without bending that spring. Replace with a new key or swap will a good working key in a little used position. Note that B and E are interchangeable, also C and F. Some other keys also look like they could interchange though I didn't personally try it.
9. Reassemble in reverse order of disassembly.

I have a Yamaha ydp223

There is a problem with the electronics between the audio supplied to the headphones and the speakers. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of circuitry between those. When you plug in the headphones, a switch opens that sends a signal back and forth to the DM board which changes and electrical relay that disconnecs the speakers. There could be any of several failure points on this circuit OR a failure of the power amp or audio to the power amplifier chip that drives the speaker. This is NOT a DIY repair unless one is adept at electronic troubleshooting.

Problem with Yamaha YDP223 Digital

First thing is to check the connector is fully seated... sometimes most of the contacts make but one might not. Beyond that, contacts in the pedal are next suspect.

My pedal is not sustaining

The first question is has it ever worked? If this is new, the connector of the pedals is a mini DIN type which is REAL hard to get seated properly. Often something blocks it from seating fully. Remove the plug and with a bright light inspect the pins... they are EASILY broken off. Aligning the connector carefully and making sure it seats is important. This piano also has a foot under the pedals to screw down against the floor but that isn't wht cause the pedals to not work.

Ydp 223 some keys are starting to stick to on the

Yamaha keyboards can be prone to sticking keys due to the rear part of the key cracking around the return spring - if this is the case the only solution is replacing the affected key modules. However this problem generally only occurs with long term use by very physical players.
Otherwise the problem may be caused by a build up of dust / fluff between adjacent keys - try raking out the spaces with a thin piece of fairly rigid plastic (maybe a credit card might work?)

There is a tinny unpleasant sustain in the high

Some of the Yamaha pianos have several pianos emulated and selecting a "Grand" will sound different than if you select an "Electric" or "***** Tonk" setting.

There is NO internal adjustment for this. other than the voice selection. Choose either the Grand1 or Grand2. Do not use reverb as this can "ring".

Our Yamaha YDP223 has an issue with the damper

All sound is generated digitally and the pedal doesn't modify the sound, it just sustains the generator. This is a strange problem and best suggestion iis to find another unit and compare... it may be a characteristic of the design. There isn't anything that you can do to change this. It could be there is a bad ground inside the unit or the digital data is corrupt in the processor. The fact that it is on a particular set of notes is strange...I just checked on my Yamaha piano that is essentially the same electronics and I notice that on one octave above the middle when one strikes F# and G they "ring out". Now this MIGHT be due to the characteristics of the speakers. Those particular notes seem to clash more. I don't have other speakers on mine and unfortunately you did not mention what brand model you have attached. Consumer grade speakers like fancy stereo speakers do NOT do well on these instruments. One has touse pro grade speakers AND use proper interconnecting cables. The speakers, powered type, must be powered from the SAME receptacle as the piano to avoid ground loops.

DO NOT connect speakers to the internal speaker drivers as you may not match the amps You should use an external amplifier to drive speakers OR use "powered speakers" If you try tying into the internal amplifiers you are risking damage to the piano.
