You will either have to purchase another subscription from Norton or use another anti-virus. I recommend using AVG, it is free for home users and ranks at the top with Symantec and McAfee.

If you have 2002 Norton, this is really outdated. I would uninstall IT. A Virus normally corrupts your computer. You probably will need to do a Reformat. Be sure and do a Back-up First., because you will loose everything.

If you know how to do a back-up, save all your documents, pictures and music. If not take it to a reputable computer shop to take of this. There will be a slight charge, but they will save all your important data, like Your Music, Your Documents, and Your Pictures. If you find this information helpful, pls rate me.

Try to access another antivirus website online scanner and go to windows update if you are unable to access them as well you have Win32.Worm.Downadup.Gen. It prevents any access to any antivirus software and windows updates it also turns off any installed sntiviru updates. Removal is actually really simple just go here

Try getting the free version or buy it legally!

Use your Norton Ghost boot disk to boot your computer.
Once it's booted it will ask you what you want to do.
Choose to Restore your harddrive and point to where the image is residing on your backup.

It's all pretty self explanatory. It may take several hours, so be patient.

Unfortunately many antiviruses tend to slow down things: they have to check each file on execution.

Check that your antivirus isn't scanning your whole system just now. Many antiviruses will do that upon first installation, to be sure they're running on a clean system. If that's the case, wait for it to complete.

If this happens often, there's a "speed" setting - fast scan will make the computer slow, but slow scan or "idle scan" will load the system much less. Try those.

Otherwise, maybe another antivirus might work better. I've always found ESET's NOD32 very light-treading even on not-exactly-bleeding-edge computers. Another one is AVG, of which there's even a Personal Free edition.

Strange, try reinstalling norton. It may not have an update too.

just download the exact update file you need and install manually but very risky as well you might end up corrupting the whole software.

Try to start your windows on safe mode.
To do it restart your computer and press F8 button before windows logon appear then you will start windows on safe mode.
After you start windows on safe mode go to control panel again and try to remove it.

You don't want to uninstall that unless you have other virus protection. If you have vista, it won't let you uninstall it without some other form already there
