Mitsubishi WS-A55 with a 2-3 error code

SD Tech - I have the error code 22 on my WS-A55. Power light comes on and then quickly shuts off. Looked at circuit board - there was greenish "gunk" on two of the electronic parts on the board in the center (behind the speaker grill) in the area labelled R5A62. Would you be so kind as to post repair instructions and the name of parts seller you mentioned above? Thanks!!!

I would be concerned about the convergence board. I have repaired a few of these and by now you have several bad grounds in the convergence board. The convergence IC has separated its pins from the board. I can not say enough about bad grounds here. They are too numerous to even begin. One will have to pull this board very carefully, this is no easy task. Examine it very, very close. You will find several bad grounds, power resistors, diodes. the IC itself, jumpers, and jumper jacks that connect the boards, transistors, capacitor grounds, any other IC that is attached to heatsinks etc. The other board will be the power supply board and it will have many bad grounds here as well. The vertical IC can be a culprit, as the pins on here have separated as well. Once again look for bad solder grounds on the flyback. horizontal transformer, transistors, diodes and the like. Always inspect the pins on ICs attached to heatsinks. I know this sounds like a lot of work and it is. But with patience it may be done. You soon learn why they charge a lot for repairs. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

My closed caption will not

My guess and it is a guess is the problem is the box you have connected to the set is the problem.

if you are using any kind of box, cable, satellite, Direct TV, etc they also have closed captioning settings.

If you try that and want to do the hard reset let me know and I will tell you how.

We dont have the tv

It may be a pain in the rear to do, but if there are buttons on the tv itself, you may be able to manually program./adjust the colors from the tv buttons. there should be one that will get you to menu and then select appropriate one to adjust contrast. other than that you will have to contact the mfg to request another remote, or refer to owners manual to see if it can be done. outside of this, if you know anyone else with the same tv, borrow their to adjust YOUR tv...

Tv has a snapping or popping sound from a black

Hello,

You can replace the capacitor by opening the television with the appropriate instruments (screwdrivers), then you disconnect the board, make sure you take proper note of the steps of disconnection so as not to have problems with reassembling it back together, then you turn to the other side where you have the tips of the capacitor, melt it out with a soldering iron, and replace it with a new one.

Mostly, the lead on the capacitors tip might have melted off due to heat in the television, then the lead causes a bridge to other components on the panel thereby leading to sparking and popping sounds, which ever the problem might be, ensure the lead is properly cleaned up and the capacitor is properly fixed to the panel.

Good luck and take care.

Color is wacked - too yellow, blue half moon at top of screen

WS-48315 uses two of the STK-394-250 convergence IC chips---if blue or red will not adjust both chips along with any bad protect resistors around them need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

Both chips can be purchased for under 30 dollars on Ebay---this may not be a job for a do it yourself person--requires soldering skills and ability to get at the chips and un-solder them and replace them.

This set was first made in 2004---if you cannot do the repair yourself--shop around your area---most shops charge at least 300 for this repair and some will not do it in your home.

You have to decide first if you are able to do it or if not if you want to spend money to get it fixed.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR NEED ADVICE let me know---I am here to help.

TV turns on with a green screen with curved horizontal lines.

It seems you may have a serious problem with your video board. That's why you are getting those symptoms. It's better if you replace it asap!

Projection TV keeps shutting down

I just took my Mitsubishi WS-65315 65" in to be repaired for the same problem and was told that it needed a new main circuit board part number 930b899005 as was told they wanted to charge me $1100.00. So I told them not to do the repair and picked up my tv and found that same part at Sears parts for only $225.00. Some of these TV repair places are theifs.
