Mitsubishi WS-55859 55" Rear Projection Television - Page 7 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Timer blinking all the time can't turn TV ON.
The TV is on protect mode.
Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.
Also
ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box
or dvd connected.
If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing
led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while,
that indicates a fault condition.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.
1The
internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic
charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read
by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the
protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong
voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in
, startingthe flashing light.
If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
Common faults
that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a
convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.
Check also
the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you
can get same flashing state because of the video cable.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual
If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

WS55859 shuts off by itself after being on an hour
If the fan is running (they do fail fairly often), your power supply is progressing toward complete failure.
Your description points to a thermal problem whatever the source.
Check fan operation first and if it is running, locate the power supply which will have the larger electronic components on it with several larger transformers and chokes.
Get the part number (if there seem to be two, the one on a label or stamped will be the completed board) and contact Mitsubishi's closest service center to inquire about the price of repair of the assembly or replacement cost.
These may not be far apart.

No Audio with HDTV on Mitsubishi WS 55859; no problem w analog tv
Have had bad exprience with RCA converter boxes. The box will lose audio and has to be turned off and then back on. You may want to hit mute during this process, the volume varies from analog to DTV. If you have no problem with analog audio I would look into a different converter box.

Green power light blinks about 20 times then turns off tv
Your TV is telling you to contact a repair shop because it has a very serious power problem. Check your power outlet with a cheap plug in tester you can get from any of the chain hardware stores to see if you have a problem with electrical outlets that you are plugging into.

55859 withh flashing timer
Greetings,
Chances are very good that this type of problem is a cold solder joint on one of the circuit boards. Unless you know exactly what you are doing don't attempt to fix this type of problem. The circuit boards in rear projections TV can carry enough voltage to kill you even if the set is not plugged in. Contact a repair shop and get an estimate. Then do a repair vs. new flat panel replacement comparison.
Hope this will put the right perspective on your problem.

Sound ok on my WS-55859, but picture is only in BW
The problem is in the Video Circuit board. Chances are that an IC has failed or there is a cold solder joint on the board somewhere. Don't attempt to repair this problem unless you know exactly what you are doing. I suggest that you get an estimate before you have any repairs done and then do a cost of repair vs. replacement comparison.
Hope this helps you out.

Power was off
The blinks are giving you an error code. Write down the sequince of flashes and then you can look those up online to find out what is erroring.
