Powers on & immediately off

On the middle board there are three green ceramic pico fuses 12_31_2011_7_11_11_pm.pngIf you know how to test them, then test them. If not, then just replace them. They are something like 5 for a dollar. They protect the image side of your TV from the power side. Some people have trouble with the capacitors, but I have never seen it happen. Chances are that you can fix it for a dollar.

I have a ws-65807. the power comes on but no picture or sound

I had the same thing happen to me. There was coolant leaking on the board. I cleaned it off and replaced three pico fuses and all was well. I had to go back in later because there was more leakage. That time I just cleaned off the board and installed a drip tray. I am sure I will get some more months out of it. Did you get it fixed or did you want some more help with it?

Mitsubishi ws-65807 series ... convergence

It is very common on these and other sets. Your ws65807 is a V17 chassis that uses two of the Stk-392-570 convergence chips. These are especially prone to being flaky or intermittant.I am available here in the Market Place on Fixya to answer this and can provide in that area start to finish step by step instructions for this repair.Parts cost would be under 30 dollars.Let me know if you have any questions. Television has sound but no picture.

The liquid is actually CRT coolant dripping down onto the circuits. It will need to be cleaned with denatured alcohol and then dried good. Then any components in the area where the liquid was will need to be resoldered as the coolant will destroy the solder and the circuit traces if left too long as its highly corrosive to solder.

if it is one of the models where the top can be removed you will find on each side two black plastic caps that pull out. These models (not all have it) have a L shaped bolt you turn, all four turned and top can be separated and removed. If no caps can be seen you are done.SD TECH

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65807

Thats usually a vertical issue since the menu still works. I would check the solder on the vertical IC and also the Vertical yoke plug pins. Often solder can develop a small crack around the pins and resoldering will usually fix the issue in most cases. The other item could be a leaky CRT has dripped some coolant on some of the components in the vertical circuit so I always check the board for any sign of a clear sticky residule on the boards which indicate dripping CRT coolant.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

I have a mitsubishi ws-65807.

try the self check this model has, try to turn set on and when green power light comes on and goes off press and hold both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

This is a self-check this model has----the power light will then blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.

The idea here was to narrow down what area the problem is in.

Let me know with a comment here and I will tell you what the error code you found means.

Convergence. Colors out of sync

  • Good day.

  • Yes,the problem is the convergence.
  • I give you the information on how to fix that.

  1. Remove the cover of your projection TV,by loosening all screw.
  2. After that, you have an access to the projection board.
  3. Try to look at the CRT projection driver..
  4. Pull-out the CRT projection driver from the unit,to repair it easily.
  5. Look at the convergence i.c. .STK392-570 and check some resistors and diode near that. Also look for the leak/bulging top capacitor..
  6. If you done step # 5,and If you found some chance value of resistors, shorted diode,or leak/bulge capacitor.Replace it with the same type and ratings.
  7. Also replace the convergence I.C.And I already check the supply at eBay.com.They have stock, that convergence i.c.Buy now!
  8. Use Soldering Iron and Soldering Pump to replace the parts.Be careful for replacing the parts, please double check always specially when you replace the capacitor,it have a polarity(+/-).
  9. Finally, when you already done this procedure, test it by power ON the unit.

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you very much for using fixYa
