there is a screen the light shows through to project to the screen when this starts to fail the screen will have lines. it sits at the end of the light chamber. these are expensive to replace on some models.

This set should have the self check feature--turn it on and when the green power light comes on and then goes off-----ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS both MENU AND INPUT BUTTONS at the same time and hold them both in for at least 5 seconds--then release both buttons----the power light should blink a two digit error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks---

The set will repeat the code about 10 times

you may want to download a free manual for your exact model.All Mitsubishi sets have 3 hidden menus:Option Menu: used mainly for a hard reset of the set.Circuit Adjust Menu : which will have height, width, CENTERING adjustments and many others.Convergence adjust Menu: same as in customer menu but allows save of adjustments made.Entry into each menu is done with the original remote and a 4 digit number code.The reason you would want the manual is it will tell you what buttons on the remote do what once you get into the (in your case) circuit adjust menu.Some buttons will allow you to scroll the items and others to adjust them; note also on screen will be numbers indicating the current setting of each item usually with numbers. You want that so you can if you try to center picture left or right to know what original setting was in case adjusting does not help.I have the codes for all three but confirm actual model number and get the manual so you know in your model what remote buttons do what.Steve SD TECH

I would say,as this aging TV has problems, the black out certainly did not help. The real problem is your TV has aged to the point, where many, many bad grounds are evident on the convergence board. I have repaired a few of these TVs. Yes, if you know of a electronic enthusiast, give them this note. Have them pull out the convergence board and resolder any and all bad grounds. Do not use excess solder as to short pins together. It will take an effort to pull this board out and replace. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Short protection--98% chance one of the two fuses that protect the convergence circuit is blown. Unplug it from the wall for about 5 minutes.
with it unplugged, Press and hold the power button for around 30 seconds.
This should discharge the unit and allow it to come back on.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Look for the large heatsink. Of stop guessing and get a kit with instructions from sites like www.TvRepairKits.com

Your model uses one convergence IC its a STK392-110 you need to replace that IC. You can get a replacement at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repaair yourself. Here's the link.

replace the DM capacitors. You can get the DM repair kit for your model from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the upgraded capacitors and the CD with repair instructions.

Problem might be w / ur service provider it happen to me w / directv

you have to unplug the tv and hold the power button in for ten seconds then plug it back in

your problem is the dm inside of your tvm need to remove it from the back of the t v, and open it, replace the 7 caps inside, that should fix your problem.

Check the connection on the new Chips one of them is touching each other correct it and replace the fuse.

No,this tv 100% have convergence problems,it dead.Any colors lines R,G,B are mis alignments,have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look alike?The tv convergence board have dead 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors are dead too.These parts on the tv convergence board,must be replaced to solved the tv pictures convergence problems.The shop,will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.
