The Mitsubishi remote can be programmed for other devices but you would have to see if the code for the Memorex (Used to be Radio Shack brand) is even in that remote.
Model indicated uses two of the stk-392-570 chips--both will have to be replaced (under 20 dollars from Suburban electronics).I have start to finish instructions for this repair in this set.Average life is 5-8 years. The set seems to have another issue that may or may not be related--there is a hidden menu with the OPTION menu in it--allows a hard reset of the entire set--ought to cure the no picture on several inputs---either one very odd problem or two problems.
Since it is intermittent it will likely be hard to find but here is some general information and ideas since I have worked on hundreds of the Mitsubishi sets.If the issue was with just one of the 3 tubes the screen color (background) would change--so not that. These sets are prone to Glycol issues (coolant leaking from the tubes) but since once that happens it does not take time or even come back that is not the issue. This set has 3 hidden menus--One: advanced Convergence adjustments that can be saved. Two: Adjustment menu(keep out of that one!)Three: Option MenuThat menu allows a hard reset of the entire set that sets all settings back to factory. The convergence is not affected and it has been known to cure all sorts of odd issues like no sound, inputs not working, odd brightness and video issues, and others. If you have labeled video inputs from 1 to DVD etc those will be removed, set will come on in air band on channel 3 so will if using cable have to switch back to it and auto program channels etc.It essentially puts the set back to the condition setting wise that it was when new in the box.The only reason I suspect this could help is if the set has developed some kind of processor glitch it will reset that also.No harm can be done to try it---it requires the Mitsubishi remote and a four digit number code.If interested I will give you a link to the full manual (free to download) and the page number with instructions for the OPTION menu entry and reset.SD TECH
Model number here has 3 hidden menus--adjustment (keep out of that one) and convergence, and OPTION menu.In the Option menu with the Mitsubishi remote you can do a hard reset of entire set--sets everything back to factory except convergence adjustments. This requires the Mitsubishi remote and a 4 digit number code.I am willing to give that but first would like to know WHY you wish to do that as it will not cure all problems like dead set, convergence etc.
i KNOW THIS SET WELL and it has no such option.I am not sure if you really want an answer as you post this repeatedly and do not respond to comments.picture is very dark and blurry?
IF YOU have unplugged it plug it back and try to turn it on, when green power light goes out:On the front of the set press and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons at the same time--hold both for at least 5 seconds and release both. This is the self check this set has: power light will blink a 2 digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times. The 2,2 error code is the most common and is short protection and I know if that code how to fix the set---for many customers it can be a do it yourself fix with parts cost under 35 dollars total.Let me know what code you get and I will try to help you.Fixed over 1,000 of these Mitsubishi sets.SD TECH
Hi mbarrett3260,
Your bulb was gone to its peak burning life and now its dead, replace it and your unit will back to normal again.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
When I do a convergence repair I always double check the plugs that I had unplugged and plugged back up to be sure I have them all the way in place. Or essentially all plugs. This is a possibility. There may be an open fuse in the deflection board which has the high voltage transformer which has the 3 large red wires coming out. Another thing to do is to tap on the board and see if it comes on because you may have created a loose solder connection especially on the deflection board causing a no High voltage symptom or in the regulator circuit a bad connection that produces the B+ to the transformer and horizontal output transistor.
Hi,To have an idea how to repair the convergence problem on your set (WS-65809), watch the video below.tvrepairworld.com has a convergence repair kit for this model number. It contains the chips and the pico fuses that are know to be faulty, instructions that will guide you in the whole process of repair.Hope I helped you.Good luck and have a great day!Jdvillanueva
Hello There,
Its seems that the circuit board has problems.
You'll have to get it replaced ASAP before the board is ruined completely.
The same thing also happened to me 2-3 weeks ago. the techs came in and had to replace the board since 1 circuit was damaged.
It will cost around $100

Thank you for using FixYa!
I hope that I helped you & that this post is helpful to you at most!
2,3 is a deflection circuit failure; These sets rarely have soldering problems there or elsewhere.I would suggest either it is a shorted part in that area (High Voltage and sweep circuits) or it is possible it could be a Glycol issue.A deflection circuit problem would require a schematic (widely available on internet for free) and a meter to check for voltages and or for shorts.Glycol can be inspected for visually and if seen care must be taken.Let me know if you have questions.Last suggestion would be if you have not done it, unplug set (this clears the error buffer) and plug back and turn set on, if it fails double check the error code again.Steve J.
This is unusual for this model, can you tell me what source you use for signal? Cable? Sat? Direct TV? Also how are you connected----via the coax fitting or the rear AV jacks.Steve
code 2.2 is short protection and in MItsubishi sets means one of the pico fuses is blown and the problem is in the Convergence circuit. If you require detailed help let me know, this can be a do it yourself repair.Steve
