Toro LX466 22HP Lawn Tractor 13RT61RH244 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a Toro LX466 riding mower. The drive belt
How to replace the drive belt on a Toro LX466 Lawn Tractor
1. Jack up the front of the mower-place a couple of blocks under the front wheels (retaining wall blocks from your flower bed work great). Block the back wheels so the mower won't roll off the front blocks.
-
Remove the battery and battery compartment from under the seat. You can now see the cooling fan blade under the seat. The belt runs from the pulley directly under the fan to the front of the tractor.
-
Lower the mower deck to its lowest position. Remove the deck hanger rod from the slots in the front of the mower deck.
-
Remove the metal rod guard below the engine pulley. It's held in place on one side with a bolt, and the other side with a cotter pin.
-
Take a large pair of channel lock pliers (about 18 in long work great) and clamp them down directly on the engine pulley, but not so tightly you distort the pulley.
-
Remove the bolt from the pulley. It's a right-handed bolt, so turn it counter-clockwise to remove.
-
Slide the pulley down the shaft until you can work the belt off. If the belt is too tight, then remove the spring from the idler pulley under the tractor. It's hooked on a bolt near the side of the tractor. You can remove it by grabbing the end of the spring with a pair of needle-nose vise-grips and slipping the end off the bolt. Then remove the old belt from the tractor.
-
Take a new belt (preferably Kevlar) and start at the back of the tractor (with the pulley under the cooling fan) and thread it through to the front of the tractor. The flat side of the belt rests against the idler pulley with the flat sides.
-
Work the belt over the engine pulley and slide it back on the shaft. Tighten the bolt on the engine pulley hand tight. Then check the belt to make sure it hasn't slipped out of the groove on the cooling fan pulley.
-
Clamp the engine pulley with the channel lock pliers and tighten the bolt.
-
Make sure the belt is routed correctly on the idler pulleys. If you had to remove the spring on the idler pulley, replace it. You can do this by grabbing it with the needle-nose vise-grips and placing it on the bolt-make sure it's above the washer. Then remove the vise-grips and gently pry it over with a small screwdriver until it slips into place.
-
Replace the metal guard below the engine pulley. Hook the mower deck back onto the deck hanger. Replace the battery compartment and battery. Unblock the mower.
Oil light stays on
You don't have a reset on the LX466. It has a Briggs&Stratton engine that has an oil pressure switch. Part # 792028 in the Toro parts catalog. I am guessing from long distance that the pressure switch has failed or the wire has come off of it. It is possible you have no oil pressure but that is not common. Look on the lower part of the engine crankcase for a round pressure sensor screwed into the crankcase. check to see if the wire is still attached. If it is still attached remove it and using a test light hooked to the positive side of the battery touch the terminal on the sending unit with the engine running. IF THE TEST LIGHT COMES ON !!! You have a bad sending unit or no oil pressure. If the test light does not come on you have a short in the wire that runs from the sender to the oil light. This is because the sender goes to ground with zero pressure and is a closed switch. With pressure on the sending unit the internal switch is open.
How to check fuel line for clog
Possibles....Water and/or dirt in gasspark plug is dirty or tip is spaced wrongbreather is clogged and needs to be replaced or cleanedtake corroborator off and clean with fuel....carefully.Just stuff I remember from days on the farm.
My mower will start but
I am going to respond 2 times to this post. The first reply will be generic things to check.
First off check the oil level and make sure it is serviced to full.
If your having a lack of fuel (runing lean) you will need to check fuel flow at the carb fuel mainfold. It should fill a spray paint can lid in less than 10 seconds but teting flow rated of the main fuel line. If you have poor flow here... you need to check the fuel filter and the fuel tank outlet port for obstructions.
Good Fuel flow still shutting off.... remove the carb float bow and clean the debris from the bow' and the treaded area where the fuel solenoid mounts Additionally you will have to again remove the main fuel line and spray carb cleaner in the float needle area to flush out any debris through the fuel hose connection.
For the second response I need to know which engine is installed on your mower by MODEL number if you can locate it. (there are 3 engines) At least try to find the engine model number. If you can not locate it Brand and HP of the engine (I assume 22 hp) Thanks for choosing FixYa,

How do I change the
well I have a Lx 500 and the problem is that the bearings on the pulley shafts are wore out, makin the pulleys hard to turn or dragging heating up your belt. It heats up from the friction of the pulleys not free spinning like they should. next time you have the belt off check out the pulleys and see if they spin freely that will be the tale tell sign.
I have 100 hrs on
Air cooled engines run hotter than
automotive engines. The use of
non-synthetic multi-viscosity oils (5W-30,
10W-30, etc.) in temperatures above 40 ° F
(4° C) will result in higher than normal oil
consumption. When using a multi-viscosity
oil, check oil level more frequently. for your mower you can use
W30 if you are above the 40 F
clean or replace the air filter
replace the fuel filter
grease the axle
sharpen the blades
if you need a manual you can go
here.
Best of luck
Grass cutting blowing out from in front of mower
Dull or bent blades can cause this. Make sure that the grass is not built up under the mowing deck. You can purchase new blades at a Toro dealer like www.arcolawn.com.
