Minolta X-700 35mm SLR Camera Questions & Answers
My Minolta isn't taking photos at all
Next time you load a film, leave the back open and watch as the film goes on to the take-up spool. You'll lose a couple of frames, but that's better than the entire film. If it is not loading correctly, then a prohibitively-expensive repair is called for. Replace it.
Shutter Curtain Doesnt Reset Mirror
If your shutter curtain doesnt close, it may be out of Sync with the shutter button. My Minolta x700 had this problem. My camera guy fixed it for me with a couple of tinker moves. Contact your nearest camera repair shop (if available) and ask how much it would be to fix the Sync between depressing the shutter button and the curtain. it may just be some grime that has it stuck.
Advance film lever not working
If there's film in the camera it could have reached the end of the roll and you were unaware or it didn't indicate it. Try to rewind the film and use the rewind button on the bottom of the camera. Try pushing the button in anyway and advancing the wind lever. if this isn't the problem then the internal gear is jammed or broken and the camera needs service.
What type of batteries does
For operation of the X-700's circuitry and shutter, use one of the following types of batteries:
•Two 1.55v silver-oxide (SR44: Eveready S-76, EPX-76, or equiv.) •Two 1.5v alkaline-manganese (LR44: Eveready A-76 or equiv.)
•One 3v lithium (CR-1/3N)
You can purchase them (if you need) on amazon
MAXELL LR44 AG13 BATTERIES 10 pcs. Hope this was helpful. cheers
Minolta x700 cannot see through the lens. help
Which lens? Is this happening with just one lens, or with every lens you mount on the camera? If you remove the lens and look through it, can you see light? Perhaps an upside-down view of whatever is on the other side?If you look into the camera body after removing the lens, do you see a mirror at a 45-degree angle?
Where can I get my x700 repaired. The film advance
Look in your local yellow pages for a reputable shop. If you don't have one, you can search for camera repair online, but finding someone reputable can be a challenge.
I'd personally recommend KEH Camera, they have a website though which you can contact them. An estimate will run you $35, which is waived if you decide to have the work done. Their prices are on-par with pretty much every other shop I've used for repairs.
Whenever I touch the operating button to meter,
Be sure your mode dial is not in the auto position. If it is, the camera will only function with the lense also locked to the auto position, which will either be the lowest aperture (highest number) or sometimes an "A" setting separate from the normal aperture settings. That's generally what this type of indication means on program/manual models - that you're trying to use manual settings, when the camera is set up for auto program exposure.
Minolta x700 will not flash
How does it function without any flash attached? If it only malfunctions with this flash attached I'd bet it's an issue with the electronics in a dedicated flash. If that's not the case, either consult a local tech, KEH Camera online, ebay the camera, or scrap it.
Hello!
I've got a Minolta X
This is an electronic failure in the cameras shutter release mechanism. Capacitors will need to be replaced and circuit boards need to be cleaned of the electrolytes that have leaked onto them.
This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
