It means your hard drive has probably lost it's boot sector.What you can do is mount the drive as a slave drive in another system, if it locates it, because then it does not have to mount it as an operating sytem and boot, then you can copy your data from it so as not to lose it.After that, then try running a diagnostic utility to ensure the drive is not damaged. If it shows the drive as OK to use, then try reformatting it and reinstalling the OS. A complete reformat will then write the correct track zero information to make it bootable again.Usually however with that error depending on the size and type of drive it is toast and may or may not start a limited number of times to recover data to another drive. You might also find with some SATA drives - turning the machine off and reseating the connections or cables will cause it to work again as they sometimes partially work loose and then the drive is not mountable.

I would try downloading Firefox and see if the same thing happens. I assume you run regular virus checks, but it would be good to download Malwarebytes - a free malware removal program, and see if there is anything nefarious on your system that the normal anti-virus is missing. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

What program are you using to download IE8 and Mozilla with?

Try check your graphic card properties first if it is enabling it..

if your cpu is on (the LED light is on) then probably the problem is your monitor, not the computer..

I suggest you look for an installer instead of updater..

Are you installing it on laptop?? If it is, try check your BIOS settings on the SATA mode option if available.. usually it is either ACHI or IDE. try to change it and try to install your xp again.

I would recommend just enabling the computer to enter standby after X minutes.To do this

1. Click the start button
2. Click Control Panel or Settings > Control Panel
3. Power Options
4. Enable standby after X minutes.
