Lost product key for xp home

The only thing you can really do is purchase a new Product key from Microsoft. I am sure that if you search the internet you could find a product key, but given that it is illegal I wouldn't suggest it.

I have an old ibm net vista with ms 2002 xp sp2,i

Hello nymandavid,

Yes it can be done. I would recommend you turn on automatic updates and let windows find the update for you, or run the windows update program from the start menu and install that way. The individual file of the SP3 update that is available on Microsoft's site is intended for large installs where more than one machine is being updated. Windows Update has a much smaller SP3 file that takes less time to install. I'm not sure what version of the SP3 update you have without more information on how you obtained it, but I would recommend not using it and following the examples I've given you.

Hope this helps, and remember to leave feedback if you found this to be helpful. Thank you.

I have a computer that crashed a couple years ago

Download CCleaner from www.ccleaner.com and install it on your PC. Run it and remove all the dead wood from the PC. It cleans the Windows Registry and other items that you have and do not need. The PC will not only have more disk space but will run faster as well due to cleaner registry. Uninstall whatever you do not need and then run CCleaner

My computer was backed up because of viruses and

All you need to do is know the manufacturer of your computer [in the case of a laptop] + the model or the manufacturer of your motherboard/sound card [in the case of desktop computers]. Next you'll also have to know the Operating System you're running. Nest go to the support website of the device manufacturer and enter the necessary credentials and download the drrivers. [Drivers are software instructions that allow a computers Operating System to communicate with the hardware of the computer]. Some driver are in Zip folders [you'll need to decompress and then open the folder and look for the 'setup' file which you'll click to run'], others are simply self-extracting archives that when double-clicked or clicked will execute. others are simply executable files in themselves, simply double-click and follow the installation wizard...
If you can, just let me know what Model your computer is and I'll post you a link to the drivers...Regards

My iGoogle page won't load properly.

You need to re-install your browser as this duplicate files programme seems to have gone to far. Or if you have XP do a system role back.

App won't load properly on XP with Firefox.

You go in Start- All Programs- Accessories- System Tools, and here you choose System Restore, a new screen is coming up and ask you if you want to make a system new restore point or you want to restore your computer as it was in a early-ere state. Here you choose restore. On the next screen you choose a date that where the computer was working. No documents will be lost in this section (restore) the program will only touch the program files chances during this period. The computer will reboot after the program do start. That´s it :O)
You can also find the feature in Start- Help and Support

BTW another thing, for cleaning the computer I would recommend Ccleaner, the best solution for getting the computer cleaned and getting more space. The program is safe to use and I would recommend you to also use the registry cleaner integrated . The program is free. Read my article here:

Try to run Ccleaner after the system restore has been done

I cannot connect Skype through

Hi,

First, you need to make sure that the firewall is not creating any problem. Turn OFF the firewall and check the same.

If problem persists, check Anti-Virus. I have seen some conflicts between Norton, Mcafee and Skype.

Disable the anti-virus as well and then check the same. If problem still persists, Uninstall and again install the skype.

Let me know, once done.

Hope i helped you.

I can't get online with Internet Explorer

What version of IE are you using? Can you connect online with another browser like Firefox but not with IE? Are you getting any error messages that would help us to diagnose the cause? Does internet explorer start and open a window, but report that you cannot connect?
Please see this troubleshooter for IE issues, though you will have to access it from another internet connected computer. This article may also prove helpful.
You could try resetting the IE to default settings by going to Tools>Internet OPtions>Advanced and reset IE settings to default. That will often clear up a configuration issue. Here are instructions to do so.
These issues could be related instead to your security software or a malware issue with your system. I recommend you follow this malware removal guide if you suspect the latter. There are some infections prevalent that will block your internet access to certain sites, and must be removed before IE will work correctly again.
Without more specific information about your problem, I'm afraid that's the best advise I can offer you. I hope something there helps.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
