What version of IE are you using? Can you connect online with another browser like Firefox but not with IE? Are you getting any error messages that would help us to diagnose the cause? Does internet explorer start and open a window, but report that you cannot connect?

You could try resetting the IE to default settings by going to Tools>Internet OPtions>Advanced and reset IE settings to default. That will often clear up a configuration issue.

These issues could be related instead to your security software or a malware issue with your system. I recommend you follow
this malware removal guide if you suspect the latter. There are some infections prevalent that will block your internet access to certain sites, and must be removed before IE will work correctly again.
