Hello, It is the image intensifier tube that has gone bad. These image
tubes and the monocular was manufactured in Russia. It is impossible to get them
repair. I can repair them but I can't solicit business on fixya, sorry. Auction

Yes, If you turned the Night Owl on during the daylight hours, or looking directly into bright lights.
If you have done this more than few time it could have damaged the image intensifier tube. If this happen to many times, it's finny, kaput, so long, it gone south, and gone bye-bye.
Looking at bright lights is damaging to NV devise. The intensity plate in the image tube, magify the existing light about 3000 to 8000 (radian light from the stars, moon and other light sources).
You have 80mm front lens on the Night Owl NOCP5. This mean that more light can inter into image tube.
Sir, have you been looking at bright lights, operate NV system during the day, have you? If not, there could be something else worng with you Night Owl. stewbison

That lens is a F1.7 with 80mm input lens. Take threaded end an measure it diameter and thread sizes. You could up dat this lens to 90 or 100mm. Ask Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX. And listen to what they have to say. You can check with Optics companies with demenision of the front lens and they probably matich it up. stewbison

Display is becoming dimmer/difficult to see
kello, you NV devise Night Owl can't see mice at night now. I think may so, it has been taking
a look see at many bright lights at night and during the day. No good for Night Owl now the poor Night Owl will have to be fed by hand, or it could die and go back to the mighty Red Star Place.
That seems to be a problem with these monoculars from different US companies. The majority of this unit are manufactured in Russia. For the companies that have thes NV made with logo on them are looking at the profit line. Buy cheap, sell high. Put you name on it and send it me. I will tell you what wrong with. Night Owl Optics is located El Paso, TX. They will not give you any informations on you NV monocular. This is called "Propriatary Use Only" it means they fix these units and nobody else. Turns on but cannot see anything
Hello, there could be a number of problems but 90% of the problems with these
Russian manufactured monoculars, binoculars, scopes is the the image intensifier
tube. First they are cheaply made, they don't taken much abuse, and if any
bright light such as, street lights, car lights, turn on the NV monoculars
during the day light hours could and would total damage these Russian
manufactured tubes.I hate to tell you but there is a good possibility
that the image intensifier tube is bad, sorry. Night Owl Optic and many other US
companies use cheap Russian manufactured night vision devise to sell; of course,
they make a huge profit on these NV devises. There are a lot of
countries in the world that manufacture NV monoculars and other NV devises. Some
are good and most are just slap together.If you want a good night vision
monocular be prepared to pay top $$$ for them.Made in the USA, Europe,
England, and even in China.List it on eBay as Night Vision Monocular and
