Abbreviations for court

You mean to designate an address, eg "Windsor Ct" ? As you know there are others such as Ave, St, Rd, Cl, Cr, etc. I think the most common is "Ct". If you mean a legal court or a romantic court, I don't know of any.

Im trying to install microsoft office home and

Installation problems can come from a variety of sources. The installation may be being blocked by an anti-virus /spyware /malware /junkware /whateverware loaded in memory, it may be being blocked by the rights of the user, it may be that the CD/DVD is defective or the drive reading the CD/DVD; or it may be incompatible with the operating system (which it is not in this case, unless it's the 64bit version which will not run on the 32bit version of Window XP). So, 1) turn off all the background stuff via MSCONFIG or boot in "Clean mode" and try again. 2) Make sure you are installing as an administrator 3) Check the CD/DVD by trying to install it on an different machine 4) Install all the updates and service packs for windows then check the compatibility of the Office you are trying to install.

LOST WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION CD, HOW DO I GET

You can't. It is proprietary software from Microsoft and they guard it religiously. Borrow a CD from a friend who has the *exact* same edition you have and make a copy. Then if you need to re-install, the Certificate Of Authenticity Key number (COA) on the sticker on your computer should let you install. For desk top computers it is usually stuck to the side or back of the case. On laptops, it is on the bottom. That COA number is your proof that you paid for the operating system when you bought the machine. Even if you bought it used.

"Programs" list is too large for screen on my XP

Your menu should extend to allow access to all selections when you put your cursor near the end of the menu.

Usually you see a small arrow shape at the end and if you place your cursor on it, an extended menu opens. If that isn't the case, I have included pictures to help you change your program menu.

Go to the start bar and right click where the arrow is in picture 1.
A little white box opens that says "properties." Click that.

The menu shown in pic 2 opens. Make sure that start menu tab is showing and check the box that says "start menu" and click the customize "button."

The new menu gives options to change how your menu functions and what it has on it.

However, if everything looks to big and seems to run off your screen, that is a different matter. Your monitor settings may have been changed.

If that is the case, you need to go to start, control panel and choose "appearance and themes." If control panel is in classic view, you will see a bunch of icons. Select the one that says "display."

Double click, and a new menu opens.

Select the settings tab. Look to the bottom left to see what numbers appear and where the slider is. If the slider is on LESS, slide it to "more." and click ok. You might have to play with the settings to get it right for your monitor.

If that is not active and will not let you increase resolution, above that there should be a video card between the word "display" and "screen resolution." That is the adapter that controls your monitor settings.

You may need to reinstall or change the driver for your video adapter. Do that by hitting the advanced button and then go to adapter or the tab listed by the same name that you saw on the first screen.

It should be in the back. The driver will be listed there. If you have trouble with this, you can go here to read more about changing drivers. Remember that you are interested in the video adapters, not the monitor.

I hope I have not confused you by answering two questions, but your problem is a little strange and I didn't want you to have to come back unnecessarily. You can leave comments during the ratings process if you have any confusion or questions. Thanks.
