Which version of Windows OS are you using? XP...? This version is not for XP OS & below.

Opening from a Desktop app is usually the problem... try opening directly from the browser to read the messages... as far as the desktop , there are tons of settings and updates that must be done.. it could take a lot of time and trial an error.. just make sure your using the most updated version of the software otherwise your stuck using the browser only.

open up the programs section and in the search bar at the bottom type in a file that you know should be somewhere and enter the computer will search all files to find it that may give you the path that they are all in I have the same problem but mine occurred from a win live mail glitch so now instead of folders in live mail , I create folders in desktop and drag any e-mails I consider worth keeping into that icon If however you get a good response I will be interested in that answer as well

You have to Set Internet Explorer as a default browser then you will be able to open all your links in Internet explorer. You just need to go to the Internet options. you can see below image for this. After clicking on Internet Options you will see the screen as shown in below image. Now just click on Program and you will see the same screen as show below. After clicking on Program tab click on Make default button and then click on OK button at below.Now you have set Internet Explorer as your default browser. Now when you click on any link or hyperlink it will open in Internet Explorer.

Not an easy problem, but will look into it. From what I have read, it must be disabled from actual social network web site (facebook, etc)

Are you sure you've actually received new emails? My experience with Windows Live Mail is that it works 99% of the time.

Do you use any 3rd party software to check your email (like Outlook)? If so, you should probably check your email account settings, specifically the POP3 and SMTP server settings. The POP3 server is for incoming email and SMTP is for outgoing emails. So in your case you will have to double check your POP3 server settings. Hope this helps you!
