Pioneer DVR-225 DVD Recorder Questions & Answers
Unit will not turn on. Display is blank.
Power supply is the problem. If not under warrenty, open the cover and look for blown capacitors. If there are, try replacing those or have them replaced. Might solve your problem
I have a pioneer recorder
You likely won't be able to simply plug the VCR into the DVD recorder and record the tape onto the DVD.DVD recorders require a digital input which was never put onto a VCR due to technology changes and availability when VCR's were made. You absolutely need some kind of software program to send it to your computer, then to a disc. The key is digital input. It simply isn't in a VCR.You cannot even record TV on a DVD recorder unless you have a cable box input or a DVD recorder with a digital tuner to change channels and record from.Unless it is something like home video, you are better off starting all over.If it is something like home video which you want to convert, there may be some certain companies which do it for $ obviously, but I haven't checked for any myself personally so I am not sure about that option. But I have found software at retail stores for perhaps up to $50 which will do that. Good luck,Greg

In most cases when the CD does not play it is
possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary
audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head
is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD. If the optical is working
the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be
defective.
The main motor will not work in some cases as
unless the tracks are read the drive motor will not work with signal from the
processor. Also in some cases the central motor base can shift and so the
distance to the disc can be more resulting in low detection. You can pull up
the spindle to come closer.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will
not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser
head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens
eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the
board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the
possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a
malfunction of the main processor board
Power Supply Burnout
Apparently there was a problem with some of the capacitors in these models. Your capacitor definitely is popped.
I had the same problem. The fuse was okay, but
two capacitors were blown. One was at location C23 and I think the
other at C17. I took it to a local electronics shop and they replaced
and soldered the new capacitors on for me. It only cost $16.22. They
were a 3300 µF and a 1000 µF.

Can't record on dvd+rw disc
There might be a firmware upgrade to allow this I would use DVD-R for full compatibility however DVD+R media from Philips is increasing in compatibility with most NON Philips and Sony players.
Dvr-225 won't read any dvds except blank ones
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. The solution I am sending you
will only work for certain Direct TV receiver models. As you have done
everything else so now there is also a "clear and delete everything"
option. Depending on the model of your DVR, you should be able to find it under
>DirecTV>Messages and Setup>Restart or Reset System>Clear and
delete everything. Deleting everything you may lose your local channels
but they should come back within 24 hours. If still the issue is not resolved
then you can call DirecTV and get them reinstated. Please
do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further
assistance.
Thanks

Recycles when turned on
Is the recorder stuck in the recycling mode?
If it is stuck, try unplugging it for a couple hours press and hold power button while unplugged, wait half hour and plug back in.
You can also try removing the cover, and then take rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and clean the glass laser eye lens.
If neither solution is helpful, then it is likely the circuit inside the recorder is faulty and will need to be replaced.

A lot of the functionality you are wanting is tied to the remote that you have misplaced. You can go to the Pioneer support site and order a new remote, though it is like $30.
As for wiring options to record, it depends on the inputs and outputs that are available on your television.
- Ideally, connect VCR to TV input "1", connect DVR output to TV input "2", and conect TV output to DVR. This will help you avoid any copy protection issues you run into, but not all TV sets have both audio and video output.
- If you don't have TV outputs, connect VCR out to DVR in, and then DVR out to TV in. This will definitely work, but you will have to have the DVR turned on to watch a VCR tape.

Pioneer dvr-225
no Sir there is nothing to do now because there will be no tracking of data apart from another pioneer dvr-225. Try inserting the disc in a similar dvd player!
Please vote me solved
