I need a front left
Hi, Yes you can use most any wire you want as long as the size ( thickness ) of the wire is approximately the same. Also when connecting make sure to not have the wires touch ( can happen pretty easily especially if original wire ended in some sort of plug set up ) that about does it, I hope this was of some help-thanks for asking FixYa and good luck, Prodzilla.
No sound from zenith dvt412 stuck in bypass
this is a protection circuit.
When bypass mode then it means that something in the power supply module has failed and the unit then goes into protection mode to protect the board components.
Your surround sound need service from a qualified tech. No other remedy.
My surround sound works great
You cannot run surround sound from your TV unless your TV is surround sound capable and the programme you are watching is being transmitted with the surround sound information.
Essentially, surround sound is a data stream which contains all the sound channels and is decoded by the hardware inside the player or TV (if the TV is fitted with the hardware). I cannot think of a TV which is surround sound capable but I expect that they do exist. Now, you may be able to use your surround sound player if it has a HDMI input or optical (fibre optic) input and your TV has the same output. If not, then you cannot use the surround sound with your TV. All of this is also dependant upon the programme you wish to watch too. If the programme is not being transmitted with the surround sound data stream, then you cannot listen to it in surround sound.

DVD surround sound to come through TV at same time?
use nothing but RCA output and input to all equipment. you will need a video cables..its three cables seem/connected side by side together with all male jack at one end and to the another end. the cable are color coded; (you can get this wire from walmart or radio shack, staples and make sure you get at least 5-6 feet long cables) yellow is for video and red for right audio and white is for left audio. everything is color coded on your TV,VCR and your reciever, you cant really get it wrong on the color. fist take one of the yellow video cable to your your tv input and to your vcr output, next take the red and white audio cables and plug it in to your vcr output and to your receiver input. that should do the trick. any other question just ask and i will try to walk you through. good luck!

To everyone having sound trouble... there is a solution! First make sure your TV is OFF. Unplugg the 2 main cables going into the DVT 412 for 30 seconds. Then re-plugg them. Press down for a few seconds on all the BLACK tabs connecting the sound wires and release. Without a disc in the player... and the TV still OFF, turn the power on and immediatley hold the down the STOP button on the DVT412 for 5-10 seconds. Your picture, vocal and backround sound will return to normal. Feel free to make changes to the sound now! Happy tuning... GO STEELERS! LOL!

how do I get the dvt41`2 to play audio from my tv

Sounds like the system switch is broken. They use a piece of spring steel thats bent up to provide a snapping action (its very small). After years of continuous pressing the metal fatigue fails and breaks so there is nothing to keep the contacts apart. The most common button you will see this is in the volume up because its used the most. It seems that people usually adjust their volume up in more steps than lowering the volume as their ears adjust to the levels plus people tend to push the volume up button harder than the volume down..
There are a couple things you can do when this switch goes bad. There is probably a button on there that you dont ever use or could live without (loudness perhaps). You can take the good switch off that button and replace the volume button with it.
You can do this by either desoldering them or by popping the clip off the switch and replacing guts. I have found it much easier to desolder them however because the small pieces are difficult to manipulate.
If you dont want to lose the function of another button, you can try matching the switch with one from an electronics supply place like digikey, or go to a repair shop and ask them to replace the button or sell you a good button out of a broken face.
Good luck!
