How do you have it hooked up, by coax, or RCA jacks! If coax Put TV on 3 or 4 if RCA Yellow, red, white jacks! ,make sure the yellow is in video in to TV and video out on box! both the box and TV jacks are color coded just match them up! but if You have in and out jacks on the TV, like I said make sure the yellow plug from box goes to to TV video in! One last thing, The TV could have more then one aux plugins, make sure TV is set to right one with your remote! Good Luck! Regards!

The metal gears aren't for driving the turntable but to drive the multichange mechanism so when one record has finished playing another will drop from the stack loaded onto the extended centre spindle.
