Brother MFC 4800 scans are crooked.

I use 'Photoscape' as my Samsung does not have auto-straightening. Photoscape is a free download. First load the scan into either MS PAINT or Photoscape and add generous white borders. Then load the bordered image into Photoscape and select the rotate symbol that looks like a curved arrow. Slide the control left or right until scanned image aligns with grid overlay. Then crop and save. You'll notice that as the image is rotated, it zooms in or out. This is why pre-made borders are added, to prevent cropping. Does this info help? Regards, Clive.

Brother MFC 4800 all in one: when i receive a fax it prints out some really dark pages that are barely legible. Please help! Thanks in advance.

I've seen some of the Brother Laser printers develop problems with the thermal transfer rollers inside the back of the unit. Check to see if the rollers are intact.

My brother mfc 4800 wont copy, it keeps asking for the fax number. Please help

Your fax machine uses the same line as your phone. You will need to read your manual to decide after how many rings you want the fax machine to answer. Generally should be after your answering machine. Your fax number will be your telephone number.Hope It's resolve all Your Printer Problem, Or Still having Problem Then follow Us For Brother Printer Support

Brother 4800 printer how to print on both sides

If your printer does not have a duplex unit then the printercannot print double sided pages automatically. You can print double sided pages but you have to do it one page at a time.First print Page 1 then place the page back into the paper tray, but turn thepage upside down and the print Page 2.Then print page 3 on one side then page 4 on the other side and repeat for therest of the document.I suggest you try a test page first, to get the printing the right way up onboth sides of the page so it reads correctly.

My MFC-4800 is connected to my PC. I am able to

There should be three ports the phone line can plug into,
one will be occupied by the machines headset,
there should then be a LINE and an EXT port.

Make sure the phone cord is plugged into the LINE port.
If it is and still no dial tone try a different phone cord and also try hooking up a phone to the jack you're trying to plug the machine into to make sure it's live.

If a new cord doesn't work and a phone can get a dial tone then it's possible the board that has the jack could be bad and would need to be replaced by a service technician.

If it comes to that here's the part number you'll need to have replaced (you can try to google it to get an idea of the cost of the part, I suggest not trying to do the repair yourself and to actually take it to a repair shop though)

Where do i hook phone line on computer

Hi mp133, If the main goal is for your All-in-One Printer to communicate with your computer, the most common set-up is to use a USB Cable. Plug the phone line to your All-in-one-printer and then just connect a USB cable from your printer to your computer. I hope this helps. All the best to you. Good luck.

I am tying to print a document...the printer list

First of all, restart your system and your printer. Leave the printer off for few minutes (let the printer get cooled) and then reconnect it's usb cable and try giving a print command. If the problem persists, uninstall it's drivers and reinstall it. It'll be helpful if you update it's driver.

It's also important to run a registry cleaner and system cleaner.

If you have further problem, do let me know with the description of the outcome from the above tips.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Machine# 4800mfc With incoming faxes the machine

This could indicate that your "paper size" setting is not correct for the paper you are using or the "reduction" setting may not be correct.

Brother support suggests that the "Reduction" value be set to "Auto Reduction" = ON

To set "Auto Reduction" to ON:

1) Press the <Menu/Set> key
2) Navigate up or down to "Fax" - press <Menu/Set>
3) Navigate up or down to "Setup Receive" - press <Menu/Set>
4) Navigate up or down to "Auto Reduction" - press <Menu/Set>
5) Navigate up or down until "ON" appears - press <Menu/Set>
6) Press <Stop/Exit> to return to normal function

I hope this will help with your extra received page problem.

Error 77 what does this mean

Hi seen this bit on the net you can gave it a go.

Power off the printer for 15 minutes and power back on again. If that fixes the problem then OK.
If not then go into maintenance mode -
Press and hold the menu/set key while turning on the machine. Wait until it comes completely up before releasing. It should say Maintenance in the display.

If not press function,*,2,8,6,4 within two seconds. It should say maintenance in the display. Or on some machines Menu,*,2,8,6,4 within 2 seconds.

Once you get it into maintenance hit 91 to do a parameter reset and than 99 to get out of maintenance.

If this corrects the problem then OK but you may have a failing thermister in the fuser.
If the problem happens again then change the thermister.

If the reset does not work then either the thermister or the fuser lamp has failed. In rare cases there is a poor connection with the cables to the fuser.

You will have to reset the parameter again after replacing the fuser if you need to replace the fuser or repair it.

How to scan from a 4800 brother

Once the drivers for the printer/scanner are downloaded from Here and installed you can scan a couple of different ways.
First is to use the scanner software (ScanSoft™ PaperPort® LE for Brother) on the original cd. If it is not installed already, install the software from the disk. If you do not have an original disk, you can obtain one from Brother for a fee.
Second is to use a different method/software for scanning. Since the scanner is TWAIN compliant, you can use any software that can import from a TWAIN compliant device. Since it is common,.. you can use Microsoft Word or Publisher (Example: from Word XP - from the top menu, click on Insert - Picture - From Scanner or Camera then select your Brother 4800 from the list)
If you dont have Word or cannot obtain it, you can download and use the latest version of openOffice for free at openoffice.org Here
With either method,.. you will have to make sure the drivers are installed for the printer/scanner.
If you need any further instruction, please comment on this and I will answer your questions

This is a preview from a related model, you must set the profile to photo and the color format of your reference. Hope this helps.

My printer puts out a big band of black ink on

That usually means you need to replace the image drum or the corona wire or fusor It can also be a toner cartridge problem.

None of these are hard to do but they can be pricey for the image drum.
If you just replaced a toner or use a non oem replacement it could cause this. If you print say 10 pages and it fades out then I would look at replaceing the toner cartridge even if new. There is a brush or scraper than collects the extra toner and when this wears on refils or isn;t as good on off bands then you can get this.

Brother mfc 4800

If you can wait unti Windows 7 comes out, I think you will be surprised with the amount of drivers the operating system will be equipped with. I was one of the Beta testers for the system and there are thousands of driver files, so hopefully they will cover the playing field.

Need to clean copies are dark

You can try removing the drum assembly by opening the machine and pulling it out. There is a small blue plastic cleaning tool that is attached to the main charger in the drum unit, you can slide this cleaning tool back and forth a few times but make sure you put it back into the same spot on the side where it was before you used it, it latches in place when it's in the correct place. Put the drum unit back in the machine and run a test copy by running a transmission report or fax activity report and see if it's better, if not there is a possibility that the drum unit is just worn and will need replacing. Also if you run a test copy thru the feeder and it has streaks of missing print ,clean the scanner glass that can be reached by lifting up the front of the document feeder assembly.
There is also a glass in the bottom of the machine directly under the drum that can be wiped off with a cleaning cloth while you have the drum unit out. I hope this helps.
