Hello, Jorge.
It would help to know "exactly" what the error message states, such as "The USB Device Not Recognized" or something like that. Here are a couple of things to try in order to narrow down the problem source:
1. Try a different USB connection on the computer. If that one works, the problem is probably that other connection port.
2. If none of the ports work with the printer, try a different USB-powered device, such as a cell phone and charging cable. If it works, the problem lies with the printer/computer connection (more likely the printer).
3. If none of the USB ports work, the problem might be your USB port itself. Go to "Device Manager" (in Control Panel), then look for "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Check to see if any have a disabled symbol. Check under "Properties" that device status is: "This device is working properly." If not, try updating the drivers (under the "Driver" tab).
The jam indication is set because the sensor(s) detect one. This could be due to a buildup of paper dust, a small bit of a sheet that tore off and got lodged deep inside when removing a previous jam, or damage to the sensors if the jam was removed forcibly by pulling the sheets out from the wrong direction.
When this occurs it usually means that the toner cartridge is running out of toner on that side. The left is most common since most printing is on that side. Remove the toner cartridge, and shake it vigorously from side to side for a few second, then replace and try again..
Black hair lines can come from what is called the slit glass. Does the line appear when you can from just on the glass? If that scan is OK and the line appears when you run through the document feeder than the small glass just before the top glass needs a good clean, or sometimes in the machine the optics has some dirt on it.
you can safely replace the pickup roller without stabilising the document scanner and the laser scanner.
replacing the pickup roller is a relatively simple job that is easily done by someone who is good with their hands or with a little common sense.
here is a video showing the procedure
and a link to buy the part
Try cleaning the rollers. You can get cleaning paper(sticky on both sides) from an office supply store. Run it thru a couple of times to see if that solves the problem.
