Zenith C27A24T 27" TV - Page 9 Questions & Answers
Dark picture after storm.
Dark picture? hmm.
meaning there is no brightness variation, assuming this is the fault I think U might be having low screen voltage. Check for high value ( around 2W) resistor, preferably from 100K to 680K on the "C" board or neck board. Post back

High pitch buzzing.
Hi there
Let's make ur problem a bit clear. "white lines" how? where?
meaning retrace lines with full raster or a single vertical line?
buzzing sound? without even turning the power switch of the TV to "ON" or when u just plug the power cord?
I'll check for schema, mean while can u tell me where the resistor leads to? is it a fusible resistor? if so , to which area the resistor suppliers power?
Regards
Rifaa
Converter box worked fine and now wont get any signal
Did you go through the complete setup by putting your TV on Channel 3 and letting it scan all of your channels or are you just hooking up the box and not doing this? Make sure the box is set to "blue" which is On and do the complete setup.
Zenith 27" TV
One thing to try would be to unplug the set for about 10 seconds or so in case the microcontroller is out of sync and not responding to the power button. As far as lightening damaged sets, it does have a fuse but in my own experience, it rarely blows fast enough to protect the solid state circuits and is probably still good. If it still doesn't work when you plug it back in and assuming the fuse is good, then I would suspect a bad voltage regulator or even shorted transistor if it was on when the lightening struck. There are also possibilities of "swollen" surge damaged electrolytic capacitors that took the brunt of the lightening. Depending on the age and condition of the set, it may not be worth repair.
Black screen
This is a failure of the vertical circuit. It can be either poor connections at the vertical IC or a defective IC. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Please confirm that the model is C27A24T so I can get you the correct part number and costs.
Thanks,
Dan
Zenith Model SY2551S 1996 27" - Green Tint
The core problem with the green tint is the aging of the picture tube, and can be compensated a bit by using either the green drive control usually located on a printed circuit board on the neck of the picture tube or on the main chassis. There will be 3 main controls which will adjust the red and blue as well. If these controls are not present then you will need to get into the service menu and adjust it from there. Don't adjust anything else as you can make the set much worse. Also remember that in order to make these internal adjustments while watching a black and white picture (turn the color all the way down) you will have your hands and arms near live circuits that could shock you and cause injury to yourself as well as break parts inside the set when you pull back after being zapped (voice of experience here) Of course if you can do all this by the service menu then you won't even have to remove the back of the TV.
27" Zenith Television
Assuming the picture tube lights up and you have snow when selecting the tuner function, I would first hook up a working VCR with a good tape and play it while the set is on channel 3 (if that is what your VCR is set to). If no sound or picture is displayed while the tape is playing,it could indicate a defective tuner. If you don't even get snow with no antenna connected (unless your set is designed to go to a blue screen with no signal present) then you could have a problem in the video processing circuits which would explain no picture with the RCA connections as well. This would probably make the set beyone economical repair.
Receive one channel with Coverter Box
Make sure those 6 channels are also being broadcast in Digital format also, otherwise your converter box won't have a digital signal to convert for your TV. The switchover date is early next year I believe.
Zenith 27" TV
I sorry to say I think you have a component failing that is related to heat. 15 years is a long time and if the TV was used in hpot conditions over the years it may well be the proble, or it's just old.
Missing Channels
you may have a bad tuner that is the part that changes the channels. If there is the input jacks you can use them to input a VCR or cable box and use them as a tuner

Zeith 27 inches 2001
You will need a Zenith remote with a menu button
There should be a "hidden" menu. Before you access it, I want to warn you, do NOT change any values of anything you don't understand what it is or does. You can PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR TV. Also, write down the original values of anything you change before changing it!!!!!
If you still want to proceed(at your own risk), here ya go.
1. Press and hold the menu button until
the menu comes up on screen and then
times out (5 - 10 seconds)
2. Immediately press 9, 8, 7, 6, Enter.
3. The set should now be in the service menu
mode. To access most of the features
selection 00 needs to be toggled from 0 to 1
4. After your adjustments 00 needs to be
toggled from 1 to 0
5.Feature 16 unlocks the auto-program (change to 0)
Part of the screen went out

Zenith TV- greenish color
If you take off the back of the TV there are additional tuning buttons. One is for the focus. I have a model SY2551S and have the green tint problem. Have you resolved that?
