Usually, once child lock is on, the set will not respond to the front panel buttons and you need the power button on the remote control to turn the TV on. Then go into the menu and turn child lock off.
Make sure Closed-Caption is turned off. Turn set on. Set Volume to Minimum. Press both Volume down on the set, and #0 button on the remote. V-Chip password should now be released. Bill

Have you teseted the remote handset for infrared radiation? You just check it first. You can check it easly, if you have a cellphone, which has camera option. Put the phone on camera mode, and place the remote handsets' front end towards it lens, at about 1 feet away or so, press each button. If there is infrared signal, you can see its image on the phones' screen. If it is there and still your set is not responding to the remote control, iinfrared sensor inside is faulty. You know that component. Replace it with same type and number. Without remote control, you can't access many of the parameters of your TV. Ok.
First thing to do is to check that the remote is working or not.
If you have a digital camera or cell phone with a camera in it, an you see a flashing light from the remote when you press a button. The light emmitted by the remote is infra red, and you y camera can detect this .

Anyway depending on whether your remote uses 3 digit codes or 4 digit codes the Sansui TV code is usually 191 or 1191.
Press and hold the TV button on the remote. LED will stay "ON".
Enter the code for your brand of TV into the remote while continuing to hold the TV button down. LED will go out during number entry and turn back on when the last digit is entered.
Release the TV button. LED will flash and go out if number is entered sucessfully, or flash 4 times if it detects an error.
Press Channel up or down to see if this has worked.
You can also use the code search function.
Turn on the device you wish to control.
Press and hold "CODE SEARCH".
Press and release the TV, VCR or Cable button. If programming an AUX position, press and release AUX first and then press the device type to be programmed.
Release "CODE SEARCH".
Press ON/OFF repeatedly until the device turns off. You may have to do this up to 100 times.
When the device shuts off press and release ENTER.
Try using the remote. If it does not function repeat steps 1 through 6.
your ready, just connect the cable directly and the ntsc and atsc will auto search all channels and the dijital channels along with HD channels. but the paying channels like HBO and cinamax you will need a HD Box. to allow you to see them.
